Or the entire bible was not meant to be anything of what all christian denominations, including the WT say it's to be.

Jehovah God and Jesus Christ the difference in the "Old Testament " and the "New Testament"
by smiddy inwhen you compare all the communications jehovah god had with humans whether it was by angels ,dreams ,or prophets as well as his intervention in human affairs when it suited him and their are many examples in the old testament to look at for about 4000 years .
the same cannot be said for jesus christ as king of kings to sit on the throne to rule over the earth for a thousand years.
in one sense he was king of christians 2000 years ago in another sense according to jw`s he was enthroned in 1914-18 for the next 1000 years.. whether you believe he was king over christians on his ascencion to heaven or his enthronement in 1914-18 for 2000 + years we have not had any communication from either god jehovah or christ jesus in any form one way or another.for the past 2000 years.. for the first 4000 years you couldnt shut jehovah up ,and the next 2000 years you dont here a beep out of jehovah or christ jesus.. for jw apologists when god gave a ruling/decree in the old testament how many times did he adjust /redefine/change what he said using the excuse "the light gets brighter and brighter" ?

Intelligent Disobedience
by George One Time indid you notice the expression "intelligent disobedience" in the febuary 2017 broadcast (at 7:30)?.
it was used with the illustration of a guide dog for blind persons, that sometimes has to disobey it's owner.. what a fine example for us!

To actually adopt an anti-WT directive and have JWs making their own moral choices would truly be the thin end of the wedge for GB authority and would permit the downfall of the cult.
The thing is that a decision made in a coerced, uninformed and ill-intended manner is still a decision made by a follower. I see little liability in people deciding "for/by themselves" doing things that harm themselves or their families. Coverups for illegal activities and events, that's a different story.

If you do not care or you do not know, there is no need for you to post on this thread.
Actually, there is. This is NOT a congregation, this is NOT the KH, and I don't have to abide the WT's stupid rules. If you want to discuss JW crap, then YOU go to a JW forum. For as long as I abide the forum rules, I am free to state whatever I feel like stating. Don't like it? You leave.
Let me repeat it: Don't know, don't care. Get over it. You don't get to tell me what to say.

Spiritual paradise or proverbial straitjacket?
by UnshackleTheChains innoas a current or past jehovah's witness, do you / or did you feel part of a spiritual paradise with full liberty in christ as the watchtower society/organisation describes?.
or do you / did you feel you were wearing a proverbial straitjacket in the sense you feel / felt restricted and controlled by the watchtower society / organisation?.

I actually remember my very first thought that came to my mind the very moment when I decided to leave. It was the Spanish language equivalent of "Spiritual paradise my ass!" Then, "I don't see any spiritual paradise among this bunch of weirdos. In fact, reflecting in my entire life at that point, I never saw truly happy people, never had a real friend, never had the love and support of anyone, including my own family.
The straight jacket analogy is a good one.
When I talked to my father about my reasons for leaving I remember I told him that I don't think that it's going to be paradise if I have to spend eternity with the JWs I know.

Just a warning to keep on the watch!
by Crazyguy ini was watching a documentary on the massacre at waco the cult by david karesh.
one of the former members that survived, she wasn't at the compound at the time of the fire, said that david had told his followers that they would die being persecuted.
that in the end they would die and then be taken to heaven.

We must always be diligent to what the cult of JWs say and print and look for signs this evil cult is heading the same way. We can never assume because it's a large cult that this couldn't happen!
Thanks for the info. I personally don't see the WT being that kind of cults. There are different types and ways in which these groups operate and manipulate/control people. There are different classification of those groups, and the WT is in a completely different category than what David Koresh created.
I don't think that it's in any of the WT's interest to become that kind of extreme cult.

God’s silence teaches more than what the “revealed scriptures” do!
by anointed1 inobjective reading of scriptures can see many human thoughts in them.
objective analysis of religions would show that they exist primarily for their own benefit.
is science too travelling in the same direction?

In all these “developments” God did not do anything, and is totally silent. Does His silence show that each one should decide his own course wisely taking into account the results? This ties with our natural inclination too. We hate to use someone’s shoe. If so, why should we use someone’s ideas, beliefs …?
Call me crazy, but shoes are shoes and ideas are ideas. I have absolutely no problem with borrowing ideas from others, that is ideas I can find useful and beneficial (or that make sense to me). Ideas don't leave other people's fungus on your feet; they are not comparable things.
I don't have any reason to believe that there's "silence" from god. There's no god at all, and as such, everything else regarding religions are attempts at explaining things through "god". Either way, whether there's a silent god or no god at all, I completely agree with the notion that we ourselves decide our own course, which we do anyway, being it letting other people decide (like an organized religion) or doing it with guidance of others, or just on our own.

Has anyone else seen this video on JW Broadcasting?
by NikL inso i was checking out the website to see what the february broadcast was all about before i watched it with my jw wife.. on the front page was this video.... https://tv.jw.org/#en/video/vodbible/pub-jwbai_201607_1_video.
i watched it and pretended i had never been a jw.. if you pretend you don't understand their particular language it makes for a interesting (if not vague) watch.. btw i've seen several of the actors before.

"The Santa Clarita Diet" on Netflix
by schnell insomeone recommended "the santa clarita diet" to me at work, and when i got home and watched the trailer, my wife and i both sat down and binged through the whole thing.... https://youtu.be/xjrnbogoauq.
thematically, the show is all about rebirth.
sprinkled throughout is the idea that when something changes in your life, you just have to be bold and run with it.

2017 Circuit Assembly: Lesbians at school demonstration
by darkspilver insteve2: is there some way this can be presented so that it is crystal clear what was actually in the demonstrations and what was added?
i guess some will think it should be obvious - but this is where misunderstandings arise because we end up wrongly attributing something to jw organization that was never said.. circuit assembly theme: maintain love for jehovah!.
note to speaker: warmly encourage young ones to prove their friendship with jehovah by observing his commandments and defending his standards.

As I said before, they have no respect for heterosexuals that don't believe their crap, leave alone respecting lesbians.
BTW, when I saw the title of the post I thought it was about some film not suitable for children.
