How did you overcome feelings of lost time in the Org?
by Skepsis ini'm a very positive person who always try to focus on the good side of things.. however, my fading is becoming increasingly painful and i'm starting being shunned by some i thought were friends.
i'm missing some meetings so the rumour is spreading to neighbouring congregations where i'm known that i'm not as spiritual as i used to be.
elders want to have a shepherding meeting with me.

I'm being asked many times why I got my degree so late. Got some feedback from one of the companies I was interested and told me I was not selected because of my age (almost 30) and not having enough experience despite having done it well in the process.
You're not in USA, I presume. That kind of questions will give you enough money to retire due to settlements.
To your question, I think that you may have started your fading too soon. There's no easy way of knowing certain things, but this is the type of things that many JWs fading neglect to think about. Once again, fading is 99.99% about learning and experiencing as much as possible life outside the WT, and only 0.01% detaching from meetings and preaching. Unfortunately, a lot of JWs don't take the time to learn about life outside and barriers to overcome.
BUT, here now, not finding a job, leaving your life behind and leaving your loved ones behind, along with being shunned, all that creates a lot of anxiety, sadness, even depression. In that state, I'm quite sure that anyone is going to struggle with meeting new people.
Have you considered getting help with the emotional aspect of it, that is, a mental health professional? Also, I refuse to believe that you are the one and only person in your country who has finished a college degree later in life. Look for support and information about what others have done. you cannot be the only person who has done that, so there have to be something and some solution to that.
This may sound a little out there, but it reminds me of my time between my first JC and my last time ever in a KH. During that time I had a double life. I was using the naivete of many Jws, the ones I identified that would fall for it, and pretended that I was still in, still interested and still being as JW as I was.
There was an overlapping time when I was seeing my JW girlfriend and my not-so-JW boyfriend.
Would you consider faking "returning to Jehovah"? That can buy you some time and get you less headaches while you still continue solving whichever obstacle you still find in your transition. It's something like a "do-over".
The good thing about JWs is that they will buy it if you say that you are "back" and need their "spiritual food" or whatever does it for them. Remember, they are brainwashed to believe that such types of miracles happen.
Would you consider that? You can act like I did when I was on my way out. Sounds insincere and fake, like you're doing something beyond your sense of ethics, but it is your life and well being we're talking about here. If you are up for it, now that you know more about the kinds of things you actually have to address outside, concentrate in getting that solid necessary foundation FIRST, then on fading and leaving.
(I cannot believe that I am actually suggesting somebody to go back!)

Nicely done. Reminds me of some of the adults I was surrounded by at the time. I wonder where they all are today.

The "faithful slave" urges confession in latest Watchtower!
by The Searcher inwatchtower october 2017, page 11, par.
17 - confess and abandon secret sins.
some christians who have committed a serious sin try to cover it over in order to avoid embarrassing themselves or disappointing others.

Should we all start sending them letters of confessions? We should all send one different letter for each sin we have committed.

Do we attack the Topic or the Person?
by stuckinarut2 ini was just thinking that most witnesses can not approach a controversial topic without turning it into an attack of the person who raises that topic.. as we all awaken to ttatt (the truth about the truth), they simply can't discuss the actual facts or issues we discover without turning it into an attack of us as "apostates" with all the negative connotations that word entails.... how truly narrow minded and sad!
.
they would rather attack the person than the topic..

It's an old, tired, yet still reliable and effective practice. I have to admit, I still resort to that every now and then. Guilty.

The future
by no-zombie inconsidering the demographic transition patterns of societies historically under go and in particular how the population pyramids evolve over time has a direct application to the future of the organization and i encourage all to have a look at this very interesting subject.
i've spent quite a bit of time formally studying these proven concepts and despite all the spin we hear and read about the magnificent growth the society is enjoying ... it is in fact in a death spiral (or more exactly a stage 5 population contraction).
look it up for yourselves guys, it can be quite encouraging when you think about.

I strongly believe that the future doesn't look that good for those in Warwick or all the diehards we know.
Respectfully to your thoughts, I don't, at least not partially. The reason for that is that they are as aware of that as we are. What they are doing is changing their business model. Think of it the same way newspapers had to change their business entirely due to the fact that people read a lot less newspapers today than before. The WT is just changing its model from depending on people doing hard labor for them to sell their printed books to real estate.
Their religious model is dying in a downward spiral, but they are not stupid, they are focusing now in something more profitable.

Can the cult really fold ?
by Chook ini had the shocking thought that wt may never die due to its free labor realestate building empire.
an the lawyers drain the swamp quicker than the new building program..

They seem to be changing focus. Scientology in USA changed their model from a controlling cult to a rich empire that doesn't do what it used to. So in that sense, yes, it may never go away. It seems to be changing their model.

by MrRoboto ini would like to thank the operators of this website and all the others here who support those who are walking up.

Any thoughts on this? My friend was thinking to just write bethel but before going through the obvious avalanche of nonsense that would bring, they wanted to ask in a more drama free setting.
Welcome to the forum.
I never heard of annulling their baptism, and in my opinion, that may be because of the arrogant JW position that they are right in everything that they say and do.
However, I do know of a person who was "re-baptized". Not sure about the particulars, but apparently she confessed to something she was doing that disqualified her from her first baptism. I was very young and not paying attention when I heard about it, so that's as far as I can go with that information.
My own baptism was a complete sham. I never took it seriously, and it showed all the way until I left. Nobody in any of the congregations I belonged to since I got baptized, ever questioned it nor made any fuss about it. Nobody questioned my reasons and motives behind my decision of baptizing.
I guess that what I am saying is that if there is a person questioning their standing with the WT based on their baptism, please know that such "dedication" is not binding you to anything. At the end of the day the WT has no authority and no saying over people's lives and decisions. It's all an illusion.

A TED talk. "I am working to change my church" x Chelsea Shields.

Thanks for it. Interesting thoughts. It's good that there are conversations about it. That can help some people who care about organized religion but still feel left out for feeling discriminated.
I should add that I know of some religious organizations that are more welcoming of diversity of thought, so Chelsea Shields should feel happy that she's not along in her attempts.
Thanks again, zeb.
