in my kingdom hall people see me as rude but to me i dont understand how.for me having to talk to adults is not bad but for me its one thing if i dont know you and so i have my guard up at all times and i have a fuck off tone in my voice.but some of the brothers seem they like kids to much.. one more thing i have the a fuck off tone some times is because a lot of brothers i kinda know (hint kinda know) ask me about my school life.what i mean is not ''hey how's school?

Yes, some JWs are very inappropriate and intrusive. Then they wonder why you are not friendly. The feel entitled to it. I think you are absolutely right in giving them the "fuck off" treatment. They have no right to get into your business.

Something that some women in the congregation do when there are men who are either too friendly in a way they shouldn't or to intrusive, is to use their system against them. Some use their husbands as a shield, even if they can't care less about that being submissive nonsense. Your could do the same but with your parents. When some of those idiots come to bother your crap, tell your parents that some brother is being inappropriately asking you personal questions. Depending on the level of support that your parents give you (didn't work with mine; in that respect I was completely on my own), that may keep them at bay.

Sorry you keep going through that. It's only a few hours a week, though.

ironically, proponents of untruth may call truth-seekers as apostates, thus making the term meaningless.. for example, paul, the greatest of all apostles, taught untruth (stood away from truth) [see his main teaching in romans 5:12-21] even though he had known the following truths:.

1) all humans did not become sinners through one man (genesis 5:24; job 1:8; psalm 18:23; ezekiel 14:14 and compare habakkuk 2:4), hence there was no need for anyone to pay ransom.. 2) in the old testament, the messiah refers to a “prince of peace” who literally rules from jerusalem, not merely anointed to the office to do the work in some distant future and get killed before that future occurs.

Do Jehovah's witnesses take therapy?

i know two jehovah's witnesses couple.

the husband had a rough upbringing.

his father left him at a young age, leaving his mom and himself to take care of his siblings.

I feel as though he really need therapy but they don't take it as far as I know. What do you guys think about this? Ask me questions if u please

I agree that they indeed may need therapy. Personally I don't see the connection to watching pornographic material and going to strip clubs and having a rough childhood, but I am not a professional in mental health.

I don't know if the WT has a specific stance on counseling and therapy. I don't recall them directly discouraging people from seeking professional help. However, they do tell people that service is the answer to every problem and keeps the away from everything and anything "wordly". They also teach that their bible is the answer to everything. Additionally, many of their literature suggests that when there are issues that it may be their fault or due to them having some kind of impure thoughts or lusting after wordly things, or because of objects in the house possessed by demons, or because of non-JW family members being too much in their lives. Blame the victim, in other words.

They do believe that people's problems magically disappear by doing their Jehovah nonsense, and if that doesn't happen it may be because they aren't spiritual enough.

I guess that comes and goes. I remember a wave of fear mongering over propaganda being the theme of one of the assemblies. That was way back when.

Will YOU Ever Leave The Watchtower Org.?

there is usually a metamorphosis that takes place for a person to leave the jehovah's witness religion.

most people do not just up and go simply because they realize this could not be the truth.

it often takes time.. for those that go to meetings or engage in the ministry, will you forever continue doing these things, knowing that it is all bs?

Yes, but for some reason people tend to emphasize the relationship with that organization as if that's the most important thing. It is about relationships with loved ones and many times the lack of relationship with anyone outside that organization (particularly the case with born-ins).

If you look closer, many people continue going and having some connection with that group because of family, loved ones, or because there's something or someone that makes it in their best interest. Hence, the concept of PIMO.

Something else, how can I talk about my first 23 years of life without mentioning that organization? The influence of the WT is ever present in my life because it influenced both the way my parents raised me and me directly. That cannot be erased.

The WT organization is a high demand, controlling cult. That is the reason why people have to continue various degrees of connection with them.

Update: My current situation

it's been about two months since i stopped attending meetings, came to the conclusion that the org is not the truth, and i'm currently dealing with some problems since leaving the org.

i want to discuss these problems and hopefully get helpful advice.. discovering the truth about ourselves is a lifetime's work, but it's worth the effort - fred rogers.

my current situation in this: i faded and hold off on writing a disassociation letter.

Thank you for sharing your story. Not sure if what i want to do is give advice, but I'd like to share a few thoughts on your post, and please understand that they are just that, my thoughts.

Something you posted made me think:

I think that two months of not attending meetings cannot be considered that you "faded". The rest of your post is about all you're going through with your relationship with your JW parents, the fact that you feel the need to show them "the light", the slide presentation about all the research... all those elements indicate (at least to me) that you are still quite far from fading.

I'm starting to see a lot of people talking about fading as if not attending meetings is the one and only thing that one needs to do. How is/will be your life outside the WT? Do you have any support, friends, family, a career, education plans, a way of being self-sufficient, a way of supporting yourself financially, emotionally and spiritually without the need of dealing with JWs, including your family?

I'm not saying that you should go back, but leaving the WT like that - just my thoughts - doesn't mean that their influence is far from your reach.

And I'm curious about something: why did you have that conversation with your parents? It shouldn't surprise you that one of them or both will try to make you go back. Seems like that creates more problems for you than anything else.

Maybe something that can help is learning a little more about negative influence, and how brainwashing and being under the control of groups like the WT impact people's behavior and actions. You already learned on your own that the Wt is not the truth. Maybe you can learn a little more about why in spite of that fact they are still around, and why there are people like your father and the sisters texting you, insisting in you coming back.

You may find learning about that quite interesting and useful. That can help you work with your loved ones who are still JWs.

Elder lying to me about a child molester.

i was talking to an elder recently about all sorts of things non j.w related.. he said something about a guy in his congregation who is related to my ex wife and molested a little girl.. i said " i don't want to hear anything about that guy after what he did".

elder"i dont know what he did".

me" he is a child sex offender".

I know very well that the entire WT organization can't care less about the welfare of children. However, every time I hear stories like this makes me very angry.

Anyone go on a cruise?

just finished a 7-day cruise from nyc on norwegian cruise line (ncl- gem).

this is my first cruise in 30 years, so my past experience does not count.. overall, a great experience.

ncl does a great job.

Never had the opportunity. I travel, but it's never occurred to me to try a cruise.

has any one had this feeling

i remember having this feeling when i was younger that something was off when it came to meetings and the people there seemed just off.i had feelings like that when i was like 5 or 6 and i would say i was kinda dumb back then but still i had a feeling like that when i would not have that often.still to this day i dont know what got me to have that feeling i was just wanting to know if any had this feeling to and still cant remember what made your mind give you a red flag..

I did. As a child, I showed it by misbehaving and doing as much as I could get away with. Later on I decided to give the Jehovah thing a try, and wound up severely depressed, then angry, then I left.
