Just called into the Kingdom Hall, Speaker said he couldn't tell if anyone was listening to his talk... Well I was and what a joke
by Greybeard injust called into the kingdom hall, speaker said he couldn't tell if anyone was listening to his talk now that everyone uses electronic devices and nobody laughed... well i did!.
he also mentioned when everyone used the bible he could hear the pages flipping and he knew they were following along.
this was really funny to me.

Hello all, RC video convention times and duration

my question is this....do any of you know on what days the videos will show, for how long and which ones?.
my plan is leave my seat with my son's when the bunker video comes on and more videos that are stronger with the.

I am going to try to have a Psychologist friend review those DVD's [without prejudicing her with any preamble] - bearing in mind that I know many my age [60] who were traumatized by those Paradise Lost - Paradise Found simplistic illustrations of earthquakes and terror from the skys - in monochrome !

Missionary in Asia works part time as teacher told by Bethel hand over pay check!!
by Witness 007 inthey only way this minsterial school grad missionary could get a visa was as an "english teacher" so he got a job part time and pioneered the rest of the time.
he was very upset when bethel told him his wage for english teaching belongs to them!!!
he had expenses living in this asian land and had no family support, but bethel thought his small watchtower "reinburstment" was enough.

"Shunning" - now a Watchtower word?
by slimboyfat ini know jws have long used the word "shun" in a general sense, as in "shun what is bad".
but i think they have long avoided using the word in relation to disfellowshipping.
in external media or literature wherever the word "shunning" was used in a piece about jws it was usually a good indication it was critical of watchtower and not a neutral or supportive commentary.

Hardline or more mainstream.... I think we now have the answer!
by Tornintwo inthis latest convention with the shunning and bunker videos shows the organisation getting more and more extreme and more cultish.. i think for the last few years they have wavered between the softer more mainstream, loving version of christianity (last year's jesus convention for example) and a harder line, there were even posters on here optimistically suggesting they might relax the shunning rules.
whoever it is on the gb who has the harder stance has clearly won out (my guesses lett and morris!).
i am sure i am not the only one breathing a sigh of relief, "phew, we got out in time".

by Crazyguy init looks to me as though they are saying don't play at a higher level because your then in competition?
so if i'm correct what if any bible scriptures can be used to back up this anti competitive idea and are there other scriptures showing the opposite?.

So here in my part of the world we have an elder and his entire musician family who runs the local Eisteddfod - That is for the entire City - I have taken part in my younger years [on the Violin]- Now if that is not competitive then what is ? And besides, performing in such events is very good for your overall competence as a musician. Also ALL the sods who are recruited to play in JW Orchestra for their broadcasts etc would have gone through a similar training phase in their own careers. Which in most case involved attendance at an Institution of Higher Learning - ie University ! Then too if you were to try to make it into an Orchestra you would have to "compete" in auditions to get in so that you can earn a buck or two /
