Funny how you won't leave the BORG because you know they are imperfect men and they can make mistakes, yet it's interesting to note that you condemn the adherents to catholicism to eternal destruction because of the mistakes they have made in the past. Were the catholic adherents not simply imperfect men who made mistakes also? Is the only difference between imperfect catholic adherents and imperfect witness adherents is that one is a witness and the other is not? Does this not show some undue bias on your part? Who are you to 'judge'?

And why not? YOU have to confound loyalty with perfection to accept a bunch of men in brooklyn, ny as 'God's sole channel of communication to mankind', so why shouldn't anyone else do the same? :: perspicacia: About the Pharisees, the oral traditions was more important of
bible. That's why i do not think it's a good compare.

If this means what I THINK it means, than I think the reasoning is less than sound because what we consider 'the Bible' today is a collection of oral traditions itsself. The WT literature is nothing but the written traditions of JWs, everchanging as they are. The Pharisees' traditions were based on biblical canon, as is WT literature. That's why it is a good comparison, IMO.

Anyone w/anxiety disorders? Describe it.

i'm curious to see if anyone here has any major anxiety disorders and how it affects their lives.

as a semi-confession, i think i may have something of this sort, but i'd like a comparison first.

being a male, i never go to the doctors unless my leg is falling off, so i don't just want to go to a doctor to medicate a problem that could be overcome in other ways.

:: kehi: I used to have general anxiety disorder along with severe depression before I left the org. My heart would beat rapidly and I would be extremely nervous to the point where I couldn't calm down. I would daydream constantly about my own death (very paranoid). At night, I couldn't sleep. Eventually, my therapist prescribed Paxil for me. It was horrible for me. While it did make me sleep, I was "spaced out" all the time. So I quit taking the medication. Instead, I took a class on depression and had a book/workbook called "Mind of Mood" to help control my irrational thinking, etc. Ironically, once I left the org, my depression and anxiety vanished. I've never felt better. I hope you get a handle on your emotional well being. Good luck to you.
Hello Kehi.

I have had a similar experience with general anxiety disorder. I would have symptoms very similar to what you've described. (Fast-heartbeat, paranoia, etc.) At the time my doctor had no name for my condition! I was told to "calm down". I later started taking Zoloft under the advice of my physician. Boy was THAT a big mistake! I got even more paranoid and became quite suicidal. The doctor kept telling me to "give it time to work". I finally decided to take myself off of the medicine a few months later when I was riding in the back of my in-laws car on a family trip and I actually tried to open the door from the inside to jump out at 60mph and end myself. I realized what I was doing when I couldn't open the door because of the child safety lock. It was time for a change!

I have since then learned to control my irrational fears by shifting my thinking to something else, rather than relying on any medications. I have also switched doctors and since developed a severe distrust for general physicians.

I can identify with anyone dealing with general anxiety disorder. I know your pain *literally*.

hello all.. i was wondering if any of you 'failed bible studies' would relay what finally caused you to back away and stop studying to be a jehovah's witness.. for me, it was after my 3rd bible study (if you can call it that).

i was talking to my indoctrinator and he kept insisting to me that those who were not jehovah's witnesses may also be 'saved'.

well, after hammering that in my head and hearing him still justify the intolerance of other's religious views despite his position on matters, i did a little research.. i discovered the distinction between general salvation and the more specific ressurection.. what broke the camel's back for me was when i asked him the question again, except with a little twist.

I discovered the distinction between general salvation and the more specific ressurection.

What broke the camel's back for me was when I asked him the question again, except with a little twist. I asked him: "Do you think that those who are alive TODAY and do NOT heed your message will be saved? I am not worried about those who HAVE DIED, I am worried about those who are alive NOW."

Well, after scratching his head, sighing and finally throwing his hands up in the air, he finally told me: "We don't know. We just don't know. It is up to God to decide such things." I then asked him why he did not tell me that in the first place, and he just rolled his eyes and changed the subject. I would later learn that I got my first glimpse of "Theocratic War Strategy(SP?)".

Seeing someone who I then considered a good friend, intentionally try to mislead me on what I considered at the time to be very important matters, truly changed my image of him forever. For a long time I thought he was just a liar until I discovered "Theocratic War Strategy" and 'witnessed' it from others of his ilk.

So, what was your camel back-breaking straw?

Larc, do you know what really SUCKS about unfinished business?

It makes you seem unrelentingly obsessed to those who don't have the advantage of the bigger picture. Unfortunately, because of this, some will take advantage of the situation to smear you publicly. It's a rather cowardly way for others to 'cop out' of handling issues they would rather not deal with while making YOU look like an obsessed freak, despite your actual M.O.

I personally recommend you ignore those you have unfinished business with. It's simply not worth your time and effort.

1. neither of the wright brothers got married?.

2. when their sister got married, they shunned her for awhile?.

It wouldn't surprise me at all that the Wrights were not the first to fly. I wonder though, if Pearce got ridiculed as much as the Wrights did for conducting his experiements. It would be interesting to find out. Hey Mackin, how about some of those sources that those school children use to learn about Richard Pearce. I would like to enlighten myself.
