I attended St Pete JC, FSU, USF, and UMass Boston. (The professor who mentored my honors thesis study was Nancy Marie White.)
KalebOutWest said: "This means you know my mother tongue"
Yes, it's called "BS". Some archaeologists start with a BA. Some get a BS. I know which one you have. I can smell your "mother tongue" a mile away. You got your "degree" in "archaeology" the same way you "became a Jew" - in your imagination.

"Pretty sure he used the parable of the “Good Samaritan” to teach that very lesson."
You are right, and as you know he also said quite straightforwardly (on other occasions not in parable form) to show love for God and for others.
"Really, by that logic, insisting that the Bible be viewed as set-in-stone literal with no room for anything else does a disservice to it and everyone who contributed to its existence."
By the same token, anyone that insists the Bible be viewed as completely allegorical with no room for anything else also does it and everyone who contributed to its existence a disservice.
@Vidiot, I know you are wise enough to know that Jesus did not mean every word he spoke as a parable. What are you afraid of as regards the things that are literal in the Bible? A true scientist/logician/wise person goes where the evidence leads, even if it is not what is popular. So what if men can live hundreds of years? What do you have to lose by acknowledging the truth? A better question would be, what do you have to gain?
Here is something Jesus said that is not a parable...
John 4:22-26
"You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, because salvation begins with the Jews. Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshippers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for indeed, the Father is looking for ones like these to worship him. God is a Spirit, and those worshipping him must worship with spirit and truth.”
"The woman said to him: “I know that Mes·siʹah is coming, who is called Christ. Whenever that one comes, he will declare all things to us openly.”
"Jesus said to her: “I am he, the one speaking to you.""
(When Jesus was speaking in parables, it was clear by the context. When he was speaking straight, it was clear by the context. The words in the Genesis account regarding the lives of the patriarchs are not allegorical. It is clear by the context.)

"Pretty sure Jesus taught almost exclusively using parables.
Also known as allegories. Or metaphors."
Yeah, right, that whole thing about showing love to your neighbor must have been a parable.🙄Same about the adultery thing.😜What was your name again?

"…after all, no one is gonna discuss theology or history or ask scholarly questions with people they’re persecuting and ostracizing."
You mean, like how the Sanhedrin and the Pharisees and scribes kept asking Jesus questions? Like how "scribe" types today keep asking "questions" that they really don't want the answers to because they're just looking to defend their own bad actions? Yeah, that never happens.🙄

"KalebOutWest - “…Jews have never believed this information was ever literal…”
Vidiot said: "Super important, and, IMO, can never be repeated enough…
…that the people originally responsible for the Bible’s very existence viewed it as metaphor."
Yeah, you can repeat a lie as much as you want, but it doesn't make it true.
God's Word is true. You don't have to believe it if you don't want to, but you can't change that it's true just by repeating falsehoods.
Jesus is God's Son. He was Jewish. Paul, Peter, John, etc, were Jewish. They believed it to be literal.
Archaeology supports the Bible accounts. (My degree is in archaeology, so I'm not going on just rehashed WTBT$ publications.)

KalebOutWest said: "Where did you go to school to learn Judaism? What is your Jewish name? Did you know that English is not my first language? Guess what is? Do you speak that language? I bet you don't."
Hebrew is not the language of God. Love is.
Zephaniah 3:9
"For then I will change the language of the peoples to a pure language,
So that all of them may call on the name of Jehovah,
To serve him shoulder to shoulder."
Many people here speak that language of love, including RaymondFrantz.
You, KalebOutWest, don't seem to know much about that language though.
There are some things I can see that you know how to do very well...
Proverbs 6:16-19
"There are six things that Jehovah hates;
Yes, seven things that he detests:
Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
A heart plotting wicked schemes, and feet that run quickly to evil,
A false witness who lies with every breath,
And anyone sowing contentions among brothers."

KalebOutWest said: "Jews have never believed this information was ever literal."
Jesus talked about Adam and Noah and Moses as literal people, not allegorical. (Jesus was Jewish.)
Luke gave the genealogical line of the Messiah all the way back to Adam. (Luke was Jewish.)
Paul spoke of Melchizedek. (Paul was Jewish.) Jude talked of Enoch. (Jude was Jewish.)
Faithful Jews believed that the accounts were literal.
Jude 14,15
"Yes, the seventh one in line from Adam, Eʹnoch, also prophesied about them when he said: “Look! Jehovah came with his holy myriads to execute judgment against all, and to convict all the ungodly concerning all their ungodly deeds that they did in an ungodly way, and concerning all the shocking things that ungodly sinners spoke against him.”"
Enoch lived 365 years. His words regarding liars in that day came true when God sent the Flood, and they will come true again when God destroys those who knowingly and willing spread lies about Him with the goal of undermining the faith of others.
God is Love, and He is also the God of Truth. The lifetimes of men recorded in the Bible are true and accurate reports. Those with faith know these things to be true.

@KalebOutWest...
If you can't figure out that Jesus was the Messiah from the scriptures, then no wonder you can't figure out that the patriarchs actually did live as long as the Bible says they did.
You don't have faith in God's Word, that's why you don't understand it.
If God can make a tree live a thousand years, then He can make a man live a thousand years.
God doesn't lie. Faithful Jews are aware of that, that's why faithful Jews recognize Jesus as the Messiah instead of following the God-dishonoring traditions of men and persecuting God's friends.
John 8:31-47
"Then Jesus went on to say to the Jews who had believed him: “If you remain in my word, you are really my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
"They replied to him: “We are Abraham’s offspring and never have been slaves to anyone. How is it you say, ‘You will become free’?”
"Jesus answered them: “Most truly I say to you, every doer of sin is a slave of sin. Moreover, the slave does not remain in the household forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be truly free. I know that you are Abraham’s offspring. But you are seeking to kill me, because my word makes no progress among you. I speak the things I have seen while with my Father, but you do the things you have heard from your father.”
"In answer they said to him: “Our father is Abraham.”
"Jesus said to them: “If you were Abraham’s children, you would be doing the works of Abraham. But now you are seeking to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do this. You are doing the works of your father.”
"They said to him: “We were not born from immorality; we have one Father, God.”
"Jesus said to them: “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I have not come of my own initiative, but that One sent me. Why do you not understand what I am saying? Because you cannot listen to my word. You are from your father the Devil, and you wish to do the desires of your father. That one was a murderer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of the lie. Because I, on the other hand, tell you the truth, you do not believe me. Who of you convicts me of sin? If I speak truth, why is it that you do not believe me? The one who is from God listens to the sayings of God. This is why you do not listen, because you are not from God.”"

John didn't "acquire" special knowledge or powers - it was by God he was given the free gift of the holy spirit to understand and to act and to teach in harmony with God's Word and God's will. John didn't go to special schools or learn from special websites or read the writings of special scholars.
The scribes and Pharisees sought to "acquire" "special knowledge" for wrong motives, and it is the same with such-like ones today. Because they are asking for the wrong reasons, to exalt themselves over others, the knowledge and understanding of the scriptures are hidden from them.
When Daniel chapter 11 was written down, the events foretold were yet future. Since many of those events have happened, part of those prophecies are now history. Some of the prophecies haven't happened yet. If Josephus recorded some of those events correctly in his histories after they happened, what of it? Does that negate that the prophecies were recorded in Daniel chapter 11? Not at all.
Jesus is the one who pours out the holy spirit on whoever Jehovah draws today. If it's some lowly, unscholarly, country-bumpkin of a person who figuratively eats locusts and honey, what of it? It wouldn't be the first time some lowly person looked down upon by society in general was used to deliver information. It's also not surprising when those who are looking to "scholars" for answers totally overlook the ones Jehovah sends. That is Jehovah's way. He has a sense of humor.
1 Corinthians 1:19-31
"For it is written: “I will make the wisdom of the wise men perish, and the intelligence of the intellectuals I will reject.” Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this system of things? Has not God made the wisdom of the world foolish?
"For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not get to know God through its wisdom, God was pleased through the foolishness of what is preached to save those believing. For the Jews ask for signs and the Greeks look for wisdom; but we preach Christ executed on the stake, to the Jews a cause for stumbling but to the nations foolishness.
"However, to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because a foolish thing of God is wiser than men, and a weak thing of God is stronger than men.
"For you see his calling of you, brothers, that there are not many wise in a fleshly way, not many powerful, not many of noble birth, but God chose the foolish things of the world to put the wise men to shame; and God chose the weak things of the world to put the strong things to shame; and God chose the insignificant things of the world and the things looked down on, the things that are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, so that no one might boast in the sight of God.
"But it is due to him that you are in union with Christ Jesus, who has become to us wisdom from God, also righteousness and sanctification and release by ransom, so that it may be just as it is written: “The one who boasts, let him boast in Jehovah.”"
