Anyone know who would have been making the final decision on which font's to use back then. They made some really odd choices in the 60's and 70's. It's like they purchased new equipment and they went nuts for a few years wanting to use everything it was capable of. I'm sure they would have tried comic sans at some point had it been available. Then it all got toned down and more business like in the 80s.

"I believe the food service stopped here in the UK in the early '90s, and charging for literature shortly after that."
Interesting. So what was lunch like at 90's conventions? Did most people pack a lunch for the family each day, or did the local restaurants gets flooded with thousands of hungry JW's?
I remember at the end of the Sunday session, most people had purchased more food tickets than they needed, so people would line up to buy whatever concessions were left. You'd always end up going home with 2 weeks worth of breakfast pastries or cases of Shasta cola and whatnot. -

The G.B. are now going to be EQUAL with Christ in heaven!!!!
by BoogerMan inthey are not just going to be "joint kings and priests," oh no, because the latest washtowel is sneakily implying that they will be "joint kings and high priests.

I have news for them. There is not going to be a temple in heaven. When Revelation refers to the sanctuary in heaven, it points to a symbolic tabernacle (cf. Rev. 15:5). Funny. One would have thought that the anointed would know this:
22 And I did not see a temple in it, for Jehovah God the Almighty is its temple, also the Lamb [is].
There is also the fact that arguing over such bible minutia always put me to sleep and was probably my first step in leaving. It's like nerds debating if Star Wars blasters are lasers vs. ion cannons or some nonsense. Dude. It aint real. -

"or food tickets for the convention"
Is this no longer a thing? How is it done now? My last convention was summer 1991 or maybe even '90.
My memories are the food ticket, Shasta, frozen solid OJ and pre-packaged sandwich 1980's era. Although I have some very vague early childhood memories of when they still prepared meals cafeteria style. That would have been late 70's. -

Lots of empty seats at Jehovah's Witnesses Convention in Tucson, Arizona
by RULES & REGULATIONS inhttps://youtu.be/5926nhzyz90.
the jehovah's witness 2023 convention theme is, ''exercise patience''...by looking at the attendance at this tucson, arizona convention, it should be changed to, '' jehovah's witnesses...running out of patience''.

"The practice of polygamy is strictly prohibited in the Church, as it has been for over 120 years. In a statement on polygamy they say that "if any of our members are found to be practicing plural marriage, they are excommunicated, the most serious penalty the Church can impose"."
He's probably thinking of the FLDS, a small split off group that still practices polygamy, sort of. In reality, it seems that it was their leader who was getting "married" to all the teenage girls in the community. He's serving a life sentence now. -

Why didn't God create us to be obviously different?

why weren't human's created to be obviously different from animals?
among believers there is some sort of universal hierarchy.

A silly question since i'm an atheist but one I thought of as a kid JW.
Why weren't human's created to be obviously different from animals? Among believers there is some sort of Universal hierarchy. God at the top, then immortal spirit helpers, then humans, then animals.
For some reason, humans are a really big deal in the grand scheme since the entire immortal spirit realm is waiting with baited breath to see what choices we individually will make.
As the third rung in creation, why weren't we made to appear blatantly obviously different? Why do we have 5 fingers and toes instead of 7? When we compare our digits to other mammals, something looks awful suspicious. Why do we have the same digestive system or even a digestive system at all? Why do we have to poop and pee and smell horrible if we don't bathe? Why is our reproductive system just a fun add-on to our urinary system?
We could still be mortal and a lower level than angels but he could have created these things completely different if he wanted so that there would be an obvious distinction between humans and animals.
It's just a rhetorical question that I wondered if anyone else ever had as a JW. -

JW current stance on Vaccines?
by lcarter017 init came to my attention that the covid-19 vaccine works by editing the genetic code of the mitochondrial dna, using gene therapy.. you should seriously question the moral implications of allowing a part of your dna to be modified.
does anyone have any concerns about this?if anyone has any questions, i can do my best to explain.
i personally find it very suspicious how they chose to word it, and conveniently inform us of this fact "after" people have taken the vaccine..

"Well, given that it is a sin to harvest blood instead of pouring it on the ground, somebody is directly responsible to God for the sin of not disposing of the blood that is ultimately used to make vaccines and other products."
The idea of an omnipotent universe creator getting his panties in a wad over such minutia is ridiculous.
"These short lived microbes on a tiny rock I created violated my arbitrary rule and I can feel my metaphorical bile rising to my metaphorical throat!"
....because I have nothing better to do with unlimited power and literally all the time in the universe. -

Poor metabolic health increases your risk for heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.
by was a new boy init’s all a big fat lie.
more precisely a big low-fat, high-carbohydrate lie.. 'it took dr. paul marik 12 weeks to prove that conventional wisdom about dieting is a lie, and that was just to himself.
he lost 35 pounds, and cured himself of type 2 diabetes.

"Fat is not the enemy. Inuit eat mostly fat and have no heart disease."
It's also been suggested that for them its a genetic adaptation over many generations. But regardless, i eat a decent amount of salmon and stuff like that. I suppose that's not low fat. But it's also not the same as bacon every morning and a ribeye twice a week. -

JWs unrecognisable compared to my grandfathers time
by ExBethelitenowPIMA inmy grandfather who has been dead for 37 years would not recognise the borganisation today.
he would turn in his grave if he knew the end didn’t come by 2023.. back in the 1970s he really believed in the 75 thing.
he was so disappointed and almost blamed everyone else why the end didn’t come.

I thought CT Russell was the brains behind the 607/1914 nonsense...Is that not correct?
