Academic dishonesty disturbs me too. It completely discredits the organization. But then to point these things out would be frowned upon to say the least as fault finding / murmuring or even apostate thinking! We just want some honesty!

A technical clarification re "New Scientist"
by Doug Mason inthe following is not a criticism of the wts.
i am providing this for technical clarification and my expectation for accuracy.. endnotes 43 and 45 on page 27 of the wts’s brochure, “the origin of life” refer to the new scientist periodical of 30 may 2009.. the text in the wts’s brochure does not match the text of the new scientist’s online article.
further investigation shows that the online text does not accurately replicate the text that appeared in print in the physical magazine.

Did you ever thought this?

you prep yourself for meetings, doing your ministry and applying all that there is into your daily life.. so....i have a question... you know... my clogs.
when you where completely in the religion, did you ever think about the impact of your way of life and religion towards others, specially those that lived around you such as good friends or family members that didn’t studied?

We were horrible to our unbelieving family and sadly those ones have either died or want nothing to do with us.
I won’t go into details but the only time I called my grandparents was to witness to them and I made sure I counted my time and a return visit. Sickening to think of my behavior.

) door knocking and preaching at the most inopportune times ( at work for instance ).
hated by former members who are now shunned by family and former friends.. hated by thousands ( millions maybe ) of pimos who only stay for fear of losing wives / family friends.. can you name any religious cult thats even worse ?.

It seems to me that the average JW enjoys being part of the snoop operation. It’s almost like that’s the only excitement they get in their sad, dreary lives.

Dangerous promotion of 'Serving where the need is Greater'

as i recall, my wife watches them as i hover in the background, india and thailand have both been heavily featured.
next, i hear some friends talking about how they are thinking of moving to india.

There are some really irresponsible ‘need greaters’ on Instagram who travel to these lands as a family with children. Of course the kids are going to say yes to moving to Thailand or India - it sounds so exciting. The reality is that their childhood and indeed their future educational and career prospects are being sabotaged just so the parents can feel fulfilled in this ridiculous cult.

If you live outside of a traditionally Christian country, as I do, then you will find that most people don’t even know what a JW is. They simply lump all the Bible believers together as Christian. It makes me laugh to see the brothers on the trolley insist to interested ones that we are different.

it seems every congregation has a couple of weirdo elders, pioneers and ministerial servants.
and then you see those witnesses who attend meetings but most people seldom associate with them because... they are eccentric..

For anyone who spent their formative years in this cult, it is going to have a critical impact on their social skills. I have always had an inability to make friends with worldly people because even though most are lovely, I seem to look down on them or view them as fit for destruction. Also, I have never experienced the things most people have had due to strict JW upbringing - I have nothing in common with worldly people. At the same time, I despise the shallow, fake friends at the hall. The result of all of this is social isolation. Yes it is of no surprise that people view us as a bit weird.

As a fairly recently awakened JW, I have devoured JWfacts as well as John Cedars YouTube. However, this BITE model is a revelation. I wonder if this (Steve Hassan) could be a more gentle way into helping family JWs as it is not anti JW but rather it is anti cult. I remember JWs pride themselves on saying that they are definitely NOT a cult. This could be a way in, perhaps? -

The organization absolutely does coordinate and is responsible for appointments and activities within each congregation. It is the policies that cause the damage and if an elder were to act contrary to policy then his would roll.
This is I fear is an example of where the organization has used its legal prowess to absolve itself of any responsibility. They are masters of going through legal loopholes which amounts to nothing short of dishonesty.
