i was just going through some of my talk outlines and i've decided to git rid of quite a few of them.
i'm still serving, but as time goes on... there are many subjects i will not teach anymore.. i got rid of the outlines dealing with blood, the field ministry, and ones talking about 607 and 1914. i can barely stand hearing them let alone give them.
in fact, talk 41 "stand still and see the salvation of jehovah" is one i got rid of because its whole point was about having blind obedience toward the gb and the elders during the great tribulation, and that we need to start practicing obedience now if we want to survive.
In my congregation there is a Brother that gives a talk about Noah's flood about every 5 years or so. Each time I hope for something new to reflect current ideas, but am always treated to the same rehash of proofs, chief of which is the infamous water canopy, flash frozen mammoth, and carving of the Grand Canyon by receding flood waters.
Is there actually an outline that touches on those subjects?

Just to throw out another scenario. Suppose Officer Wilson comes from a large JW family and is the equivalent of the family black sheep. The rest of the family are being good Witnesses and not acknowledging his existence, whereas the grandmother is not putting up with that crap and is wearing the lapel pin in a sort of "in your face GB" way, pointing out the hypocrisy of the Organization and inviting the criticism that this story will generate.
Probably not the case, but I'd like to think this is the case.

if the wtbts was not approved by jehovah and christ until 1919, does that mean that they were not spirit guided until then?.
if not, that would explain the countless errors in doctrine up to that time.. if, however, they were spirit guided, wouldn't that indicate that they had already been chosen?.

To me, it's reminiscent of the early quiz show scandals, where contestants were given the answers ahead of time, then declared the winners.

Perhaps the GB has realized that discouragsting marriage has resulted in fewer born-in members.
As the quality of converts continues to deteriorate in the industrial nations, they will need more in-house congregants to keep the organization viable.
With the greatest growth occurring in poor third world countries, their finances will take a major hit unless they increase membership in more affluent regions.

With the explosion of cell phone use, at some point people in remote places will have access to the internet. Countries such as China, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, or other regions hitherto inaccessible to the Kingdom message will have the ability to study all the Watchtower literature!

the impression i get from reading parable of prodigal son is that it is more about a father who is prodigal.
he gave his son’s share without any sort of reasoning (a kind of lavishness) and on his return made arrangement for a celebration killing “a fattened calf” (again a kind of lavishness) which does not make him resemble like his heavenly father who had commanded: “you shall not murder.” (exodus 20:13) for god, slaughtering an animal or a human being does not make any difference.
(isaiah 66:3) god’s view of lives of other species remains unchanged, declares jesus: “are not five sparrows sold for two pennies?
I'm always surprised to see the Prodigal Son given as an example in JW literature.
Unless I'm mistaken, it looks to me as if the father accepts his son's words of contrition on the spot, and doesn't require a waiting period to welcome his son back.
In the Jw universe, he would have worked as a servant, shunned by all, until his father and a couple of neighbors decided he'd suffered enough, and then been returned to his father's household with mild applause.

granted, a creationist by defination would have to believe in a creator.
on the other hand, believing in evolution doesn't automatically make one an atheist, a small point perhaps, but i think it would be more accurate to say believer vs nonbeliever.. just sayin'..

so my hubby has been on a bit of a roll about the jdubs, we were talking a lot about them & he said the buzz word he hate's the most is "worldly" why?
because he say's "with that one word they have condemned (according to their believes) a person as being worthy of nothing but death.
