i've been a lurking by-stander of this forum for approximately 6 months.
i think this forum's best moments can be attributed to the involvement of actual jw's in doctrinaire discussions and to heated (though not always dialectic) debates.

Hi jwfacts, your website is quite *interesting* and not a typical approach on the 'truth about the truth'. It's more straight to the point and I like that. In the past six months I observed threads involving Recovery, and the older threads with Thirdwitness and Scholar. I believe Recovery at times had a reasonable objection, but wasn't compotent in arguing his side COHERENTLY and STRONGLY. He was very nit-picky and allowed his insistence on attacking jwfacts to damage his ability to argue reasonably. Hes very simtilar to Thirdwitness, but I think Thirdwitness is worse. He also cant argue cohesively and is worse at arguing his point and his arguments were easily refuted as they were rather bias and elementary. Scholar was by far the worst of the three though.
I would like more of your insight and presentation though JwFacts. You don't strike me as the "debating" type, but many times those who do not have that affinity, turn out to present the best arguments.

In one statement you proclaim the liberty of 'free thought' and 'critical thinking' imposed by higher education; yet later in stark contrast say you refuse to change your mind abiut anything and use stereotypes and a spiteful prejudice to denounce all JWs.
RayPublisher -thanks! :D
Checking out jwfacts and older life stories at the moment. Anxious to start my thread though.

I do not know Recovery, but his subsequent absence or banning (whichever) prompted me to enjoin this forum. That's well written and very true Londo. I've ascertained from your writing that you find the mandated unity and singular thought among JW's perculiar, unscriptural, unorthodox, and of negative implication. While I can understand the emotional damage, isolation, and repression of dissension caused by disfellowshipping, I find the necessitation of unity and discouragement of what is classified as 'apostate' to be a recurring theme and exhortation in the early Christian epistles, as well as the early beginnings of the Christian church. No doubt, unity is a recurring scriptural mandate and a lack thereof can be greatly attributed to the varying denominations and sects in Christendom. Do you honestly believe the early church was modeled in a contrary manner?

Well, let me first say there was a time when I did not consent to the belief that Jesus came invisibly in 1914. The arbitrary connections made between Daniel 4 and Revelation seemed somewhat plausible, but NOT DEFINITE. I expressed this to my elders. I was not instantly disfellowshipped and denounced as an apostate a few days later. Either your elders acted unjustly, unscripturally, and not according to the instructions of the WTS; or perhaps there is more to the story than we are cognizant of. So to answer directly NO she shouldnt and I dont agree that she should.

Wow, thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I think we should start with a topic that everyone undoubtedly has an opinion on. Past errors/wrong teachings JWs have relinquished and what they signify. I am not permitted to start another topic for 24 hours...so let the waiting game commence.

I'd like extend a greeting to all members of JWN. I've been a lurking by-stander of this forum for approximately 6 months. I think this forum's best moments can be attributed to the involvement of actual JW's in doctrinaire discussions and to heated (though not always dialectic) debates. With the obvious want of participating, existent, actual JW's, I felt it necessary to become a member as that intellectual stimulation for which I so yearned had thus dissipated almost completely (from a lurking perspective). So my intention for joining this forum is to revivify, by participation, such discussions (i.e. JW and ex-JWs) and perhaps contribute growth or understanding (by virtue of my perspective and yours), since we can never cease to know more about ourselves and the world around us. So thanks to the moderators and participants for this opportunity. I can't wait to engage in discussion!
