Do most ex JW's go politically left?
by Lightgrowsbrighter ini've found it interesting that- imho- most of the politically vocal ex-jw's at this website seem to lean left.
i'm personally pretty centered- right on some issues, left on others, but overall have a pretty cynical view of all political/religious leaders.
i find it somewhat ironic that people who leave such a dogmatic group like the witnesses become so politically dogmatic.

we would have to take a poll on that, issue by issue. Universal healthcare is as old as the wt 1870. not a left issue, a given, welfare state , think the paradise. tough on crime? wt always blamed victims. Has the wt experience really changed the worldview of people, or is previous education determining the new direction? Trump or Sanders VT.? -

the Remnant
by Esse quam videri inwhen was the last time anyone recalls hearing the word 'remnant', in meetings or conversation?
is it something still discussed?
[i haven't attended in 20 years, so no idea].

With increasing partaker numbers, the remnant, leftover, will become the majority, perhaps before the planned overlapping "gathering to heaven" aka rapture in 2075 *.

It is probably cheaper to just abandon them than do the maintenance to get them certified to fly at all. -

Any thought on Business Territory
by Sabin ini was working one day, had a couple of male customers to serve when this lady walks in & offers me a track on her religion, my answer without thinking " i already know what the bible say's, i'm one of jw's".
she just threw me a dirty look & the two guy's just looked down & said nothing.
i just carried on, served them as nothing had happened.

I always thought is was brazen conduct to invade a private dedicated space to peddle papers. but hey, Rutherford was introduced to the wt affront that way, and he took it to another level. Brazen conduct. -

It's OK to be an Apostate ... but only if you're on the Governing Body
by Simon inlook at the governing body.
none of them believe now what the wts believed back when they were born and later baptized.. so why aren't they disfellowshipped for apostasy?.
simple - because the true beliefs are always taken to mean whatever they currently consider them to be.. think about it - they can never be apostates because whatever they decide to believe becomes "the truth" and anyone not believing it is then guilty of apostasy, even if they believe things the wts has taught them all their lives.. if you do believe in the bible and jesus story, do you think this is what he intended?

and between flashes of "new light" they must be hatching and harbouring apostate ideas, in itself a possible disfellowshipping offence. Why called "flashes of light"?, because of their short duration. -

If You Were God How Would You Prove You Existed
by Pig ini ask this because obviously everyone has different criteria, hence why we have muslims who think quran is the more than enough proof, christians who think the bible is perfect proof and atheists who believe that nothing yet has been proof enough of gods existence.. living with humans we all must have a good idea of human nature (god should certainly know) so what would you provide as proof if you were god to convince the masses of your existence?.
if you were a christian would your proof surpass that contained in the bible, would you provide less proof?.
if you are atheist would you provide a mathematical equation or a series of supernatural events that fulfill prophecies every 100 years?.

create something really big from nothing (almost); add some artistic but useless features. like having two distant bodies appear of nearly identical size causing blackouts. Have the observer's planet with the same least common denominator number than the number of her digits. Make everything appear to make itself; play: I hide, you seek. -
