John-1-1-Colossians-1-16-all-other-things - Part 2
by Wonderment incontinued from part 1 (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5097191899136000/john-1-1-colossians-1-16-all-other-things):.
the nw translation and some of its unique renderings, like john 1.1- "a god," and colossians 1.16 - "all other things," have been consistently at the top of the most debated topics here in this forum and elsewhere from the beginning.
the anger felt by detractors of the nwt rendering of john 1.1 (a god) has diminished considerably if compared to the furious debates surrounding the verse that raged on during the 1950 thru 1970s.

The problem with "other" is that it would classify the prehuman "jesus" as a thing, whereas to be a co-creator he would have to be a non-material entity; --spiritual, invisible, like his presence since 1914. -

by Witness 007 ingolden age aug 25 1926 p.751.
"negative gravitation.
you may have wondered how accidents will be avoided in jesus kingdom since we are told nothing will hurt or destroy.

Isaiah 40:31, "--will mount up with wings like Eagles--" on hot air thermals. sucked up. Non collision murmurations of jws, , those that now murmur will not be in the flock. -

Finally heard a Dub defend overlapping generations
by Socrateswannabe insince the overlapping generations doctrine was introduced, i have found the jws i know to be uncharacteristically silent on the subject.
i can't remember hearing a single dub try to defend this idiocy.
but that all ended recently.

the sister could not possibly have understood it. Even the wording. There are not two generations overlapping, but 2 groups in one generation. (wt double talk). Then, wt also teaches that the generation WILL pass away, not like"jesus" said will NOT*** pass away.
***wt teaches that the anointed will be all gone from the Earth before he destruction. "jesus" said they would survive, (or not pass away)- and did!, - in the primary fullfillment, Jerusalem 70 CE

"-Jesus now holds a position so great in the Universe, that Paul had to mention that it was through Jesus that God made everything.-"
That " in" captured my attention, the creator would not be in, but be external, prior to the universe, whether it is relevant, is another matter.

Dogma, Fogma or Frogma? What's the best word to describe a concept like FDS or events circa 1914?
by kepler inan official system of principles or tenets concerning faith, morals, behavior, etc., as of a church.
for instance, a fundamental dogma of christianity is the resurrection, but among sects of christianity, dogmas about other details vary.
nonetheless, they are insisted upon in their basic unavoidable, unchanging form - otherwise there would be no basis for the particular sect's belief other than habit.

Now here' another. The sacred scriptures were collected and canonized in an Era of Apostasy and in babylonish captivity staining everything.
snakema, not dogma, because without the talking snake story , there would be no ma Eve, , mother of all the dying.

the Remnant
by Esse quam videri inwhen was the last time anyone recalls hearing the word 'remnant', in meetings or conversation?
is it something still discussed?
[i haven't attended in 20 years, so no idea].

Do most ex JW's go politically left?
by Lightgrowsbrighter ini've found it interesting that- imho- most of the politically vocal ex-jw's at this website seem to lean left.
i'm personally pretty centered- right on some issues, left on others, but overall have a pretty cynical view of all political/religious leaders.
i find it somewhat ironic that people who leave such a dogmatic group like the witnesses become so politically dogmatic.

we would have to take a poll on that, issue by issue. Universal healthcare is as old as the wt 1870. not a left issue, a given, welfare state , think the paradise. tough on crime? wt always blamed victims. Has the wt experience really changed the worldview of people, or is previous education determining the new direction? Trump or Sanders VT.? -

With increasing partaker numbers, the remnant, leftover, will become the majority, perhaps before the planned overlapping "gathering to heaven" aka rapture in 2075 *.
* based on the life of G. Gangas, GB member that died in 19196.

It is probably cheaper to just abandon them than do the maintenance to get them certified to fly at all.
