  the following comment by lieu on another topic shows me that i would be totally frustrated, actually exasperated, stifled and depressed in the modern form of jwdom: "therein lies the real problem billy, no one is paying any attention at regular meetings let alone conventions.

  it's too boring, intentionally i think.

  humans aren't hardwired to sit through hours of lecture with no interactions.

  What we have now is just ministry demos. yes, no more school. gifted straight A students doing bible readings for 10 years, without even a concluding comment allowed. Wt does not see itself as creating an army of capable virtuoso solo performers but as training hordes of worker drones serving and advertising the machine.

  These demonstrations of family worship night, house to house and back calls, home bible study work probably are meant to filter down into the everyday world of all jws, but how realistic are they? I can not see them ever working in our territory , in our families. a boring dream world of the wt planners.

  Home bookstudy ended because of 'independent study' groups? Any interesting stories regarding these types of groups?

  someone suggested the other day that the home bookstudy meeting ended because of 'independent study' groups (in ireland) going 'off the reservation' and left the truth (tm).. has anyone heard of this before?.

  does anyone have interesting stories of 'independent study' groups resulting in large scale apostasy?.

  k 99: "Every congregation would have a group at the hall taking up a night a week.. as part of the dispersed small book study groups there was one for each congregations at the hall, for disfellowshipped and nearby jws. now with the study as the final part of a weekday meeting, there was no need for that arrangement, all come to the hall, combined with the then school and service meeting.

  Old Relative Not Happy About Push To Use Ipads Etc

  i was in a close relatives house yesterday and she was having angry and resentful at the push to use electronic devices at the meetings.

  she was talking to another relative of mine who has just got an ipad to use.

  this relative of mine is very elderly and obviously prefers to use her bible and other books.

  My observation, after the meetings, all the nerds gather around the KH computer center and talk their talk, older ones approach and let the youngsters help them with their ipads. only the oldest close to, over 90 are not involved. The wt religion is now tending to the mashines (sic). the knowledge is in the machines, not "in the hearts" according to the new covenant. The knowledge is tightly controlled, outside the website, the world does not matter.

  Overlapping Generation

  the september 2015 broadcast had david splane explain matthew 24:34 “truly, i say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place”.

  his explanation of this scripture was by means of a chart to indicate an overlapping generation.. .

  no scripture was used to show the overlapping generation concept, and as a result it makes no sense.. to illustrate how crazy this concept is, look at the lyrics of the song my generation.. my generation.

  they have ever admitted to error or even apologised for anything!, all they said about the 1975 end of the generation,  beginning of the millennium speculation was : "--we regret having published that--" of course in hindsight the regretted that!

  Come to think about it, the anointed generation was supposed to have ended before 1975,- 41 years ago, and a whole new generation has come and been superseded since then.

  The two men, Flodin and Splane clearly appear rattled when having to address this subject. , if you knew them in more confident, up times. They must know the implications, that the piggybacking of generations is dishonest, and even if it would be going off as planned, it could be still 6 decades before "all these things" are done.

  problemaddict2: "--He then goes on to double talk saying that nowhere is it said the overlapping generation members need to be "old and decrepit" when the end comes. This insinuates instead it will be sooner. -- yeah, but their prime example of the first group, FFranz was old and decrepit when that group expired. others in the group possibly even older, according to the Splane insert. So: in the overlapping group also,--older still--making 2075 an "assured expectation"

  as a psychoanalyst this mean a lot. -- Not just Freud, wt actually teaches what the man inadvertently blurted out.

  wt teaches that the generation will pass away before the end , before Armageddon, (included in "all these things"). A big deal, for it sinks their whole "anointed generation" doctrine. and

  Splane clearly implied that there could be older anointed than F.Franz in the first group, but older ones also in the overlappers, giving a window beyond 2075.
