Do you still believe in the concept of absolute truth?

jws very much believe that there is an absolute truth and of course, they are the only ones who have it lol.

how about now though do you still believe that absolute truths exist?

or is everything subjective?

As I see it: There is one absolute truth, it is a large set of facts that is evolving as time elapses; but there are different pictures of it, from all different observers. Many visions of what is called "truths" though, are merely constructs of the "non-observer's" minds, have no relation to the facts out there. added:

To illustrate, viewers might agree that they see a rainbow. but each sees a different set of sun rays reflected back from water droplets defined by precise angles. the sun, its radiation the rain all are fact, therefore truth, so are the individual observers, their position, their makeup,( cosmic, not cosmetic). truth is more beautiful than the facts.

F :Yes a grand designer who makes nature self destroy what it creates such as stars--

very good point. If it would not be for all those past overlapping generation of now dead stars, we would not have oxygen, carbon, calcium --gold that makes our life possible. Also, would there have been life everlasting earlier for all, , we would not have evolved. The apparent intelligence of the maker, is more wise, success -orientated , yes, seemingly uncaring, than our own egocentric viewpoint allows for.

He/She speaks to me through the works I live in. A great monument to achievement to be emulated. As a deist, I do not believe in a personal God, and speak to him. but given the immensity of the cathedral we live in, the energy locked up just in the matter, it would be an unimaginable experience, just looking out the window at the snowcapped mountain across the sea, is enough to shut me up, and just listen.

Although perhaps you have some evidence to support the notion of a grand designer?

the existence of a grandly designed cosmos. a universe, life functioning as if on autopilot.

in exodus 32 aaron made a golden calf at the jews request from the gold jewelry they had in their possession .. did they use more common sense / ability than jehovah ?.

In Daniel's time, the deity still wrote on stone, bigger though, walls . Only in the early Mormon's period did he consider gold as a fit base for his calligraphy. Made in our image, a slow learner though. not at all like the cosmic creator that apparently gets it right the first time.

i heard today about a former jw/now apostate who is dying in hospital.

this information was accompanied by the comment of "wouldn't be awful to be lying there in hospital,dying as an apostate!

knowing that you have no hope!?

In the life and death situations I have been in, one in hospital, going in and out of consciousness during a heart attack, being an approved jw or not never entered my mind. How do jws know what it is like not to have, to be free of a false hope?

Wt does not full time "servants" to work. if you do, turn in the proceeds. but You can own an apartment block and collect rents, or own stock and clip coupons, and keep the money, just do not exhaust yourself with filthy work (like Paul did) we will discourage that by confiscating the gain.

i’ve been reading it for a few of years off and on, but have been a little too ... maybe ... timid to join.

i left the watchtower organization almost 20 years ago but never abandoned my faith and belief in god.

i knew the gb/organization didn’t represent god, so when i lost my faith in them, i managed to keep my faith in an all wise benevolent creator.

welcome believer, I am a theist, believing that the universe did not make itself, but that we as a race, as life, but particularly as persons, are special, but - might not be as important as we believe we are. so: I am not that kind of a believer you might be talking about in the PO.

I stand corrected, thank you cofty, I meant deist, and my mind is slipping, no spirit watching over it.
