  What is the purpose of life?

  while reading the magazines the other day it occurred to me that jws never really had a very good answer to that question.

  because it was aimed at young people and it said something along the lines, "if you believe in god you have a purpose, but if you don't believe in god your life has no purpose or meaning".

  i think that is a faulty analysis of the situation.

  hate to tell you this cofty, but the Indonesian and the Japan tsunamis were the result of plate tectonics, plates getting stuck between jerking movements, or spreadings which are the source of deep ocean vents, that are pegged as a possible source of the abiogenesis conditions.

  But why are we talking about a creative (and sometime destructive) process, when for humans the meaning of life has more to do with the beauty, the family, the intense feelings, the music, the glory of it all?

  It is not perverse, it is nature. it is the way it is , get used to it. All stars, all creatures before you have died so you as you are, can live. Some die young in accidents, other satisfied of old age, but death is part of life, it what keeps it moving. I happen to believe still, that the universe did not create itself. it took energy time & work to have it. yes you are right, I love to work, create novel things, ideas. it is a good purpose in life, remunerative too.

  Logical Problem with WT Anointed

  the watchtower september 1, 1951, in a wonderful article entitled “hated for his name”(pp518,519) describes the persecution and martyrdom of steadfast christians in the first 3 centuries ad.. by the year (a.d.) 64 christianity was.

  prominent throughout much of the roman.

  According to wt, all christians were anointed before 1931. but with only ~ 130 000 openings for the only salvation before that, did all the millions of earlier partakers partake unworthily? after all, they did not believe in current true wt doctrines, the 1919 fd slave, (they erroneously thought the apostles were "in") the coming overlapping generation, the Other Sheep not as the gentiles but as non-Christian bread & wine refusers. so: according to wt logic, all these millions were not true Christians, despite martyrs sacrifice, but doomed because not anticipating wt temporarily fleeting doctrines? wt logical anointed problem indeed.

  Babies in 3 story concrete structures did not drown, but I was speaking in general terms. Catastrophes must have resulted in more drastic changes to the makeup of life, it's purpose, applied more selective pressures than long term opening of niches. or?

  Neither will I, -- my son and young daughter, but I teach them to be realists, foster love in the family, respect to those on the outside, but vigilance and firmness in the competition for life's prises. Thankfulness for the gift of creation we have. Striving for excellence. The creator seems to reward the strivers, to strive is a purpose of life. He seems to expect us to better ourselves.

  As an atheist do you not bestow more power on the creator than he now seems to exercise? Do you see any redeeming value in these near - extinction events ? Could not these seeming setbacks be increments in life's journey to better adaptation? Catastrophes seen as a tool to shape the purpose of life? Untimely death more important to evolution than that of supercentenarians?

  I am a realistic deist, and see in the plight of the poor in these countries, that live in dire conditions, daily, not just in the danger of traffic, storms, waves, a failure of society to care, to share. If all the money donated at the retail level truly would reach these devastated areas, impenetrable shelters with medical facilities, vitels . could have been constructed. I am not blaming the sufferers, but do not agree that the creator, giver of the possibilities should be blamed for the inability of individuals, families or societies to mitigate danger. bsw I have personally taken one such family squeezed between a railroad and the ocean to higher ground, into a wind- and earthquake -proof house with improved view too.

  i am still having issues with my still in wife.

  my two son's and i don't want anything to do with the cult.

  our marriage is a battle ground all the time.

  i wish she would question her beliefs,

  be careful, that is why I suggest keeping it to doctrinal error. do not ask her to question her belief in marital fidelity, because separate beds in some quarters are justification for obtaining outside help.

  Any Kiwis Here?

  i'm wondering if there are any here that are from new zealand or currently live there.

  i'm going to be staying there for a month in july 2017 ... location to be determined.

  i would love to have someone i can ask questions while i am in the planning stages.
