  mouthy, now that is a good idea, its cut in stone that you do not hope to never die. I already made my own coffin, patterned after the last popes' casket, using first millenium technology. when asked about my "lack of faith", I say "to the contrary, its prepared just in case I am one of the 144 000". I am an octogenarian like you. its not health foods, not pills, its genes. So how do we assure passing them on? My method? not algorithm*. but the old and proven way. my youngest daughter is 10 months old. * another current topic

  When JWs go from H2H, the basic gist of the message is: we are right! and: you are wrong!. thats why we are here.

  Muslims' sensitivity soon senses that.--so: that is thinking , talking negatively of islam.

  Some of them have an interesting way of saying "I am not interested" like:

  "You keep talking like that and you will have your throat cut" this happened to me 10 or so years ago in the H2H "work". I had not mentioned the prophet or anything about religion at all.

  So now I keep in a safe place, inside my own door and all the other "do ors"* have peace too.

  * its not "DO OR" die, the idle D2D WT&BtS threat either.

  so I dont think twice, not even once.

  An interesting article on scientific explanations of near-death / out-of-body experiences

  i've been doing quite a bit of research into books recently, and i've noticed that the book "proof of heaven" is selling very strongly at the moment.

  it's currently no.1 in the new york times bestseller list for nonfiction paperbacks.. the book is by a qualified neurosurgeon who converted to religious faith after going into a coma and having what he later described as an experience of heaven, which he elaborates on in great detail in the book.

  he argues that the experience must have been supernatural, because his cerebral cortex was "offline" for the duration of his vision.. .

  I am glad to look into the depth of the discussion here. thank you.

  I had several experience out of consciousness and conclude there is no survival of mind after brain death.

  In the 1930s I was "put out" for operations by chloroform/ether. I heard churchbells, hammering. They had a lot of church bells those days. I fought desperately not to have to take those chemicals again.

  @design, --just like the story you tell, I had a widow-maker heart attack on the beach, readying for surfing. !5 minutes later (I thought) I was loaded into a helicopter for surgery far away. elapsed time: 12 hours, -- of that 8 hours gone out of my mind with out a trace. no out of body experiences what so ever. not at all like dreams that I sometimes vividly remember. but I heard that surgery personel are warned not to make off- color remarks about their patients, because even if unconscious they might hear and retain.

  I fell off my roof in Florida, dont remember a thing because I banged my head. brainfunction interrupted. (well I remember the 5000.- medical diagnostic bill) I fell again, 16 feet at age 75, remember it all the way down, head protected, brain function continued. my conclusion and I know:

  brain function is the remembering mind. For me its solice for the passengers in those 4 planes and the jumpers on 9/11. its too fast to register.

  @ski forever. How about Maria the migrant worker? she probably could not believe her good fortune, $100 000 plus of free medical work that would bankrupt lesser tax-paying citizens. Did she believe her out -of- body, heavenly, special experience?, absolutely! but it would not have surprised her perhaps if more good monetary fortunes , largesse was forthcoming. remember Lourdes and the other Maria.

  @GromitSK: consciousness outside the brain?: --Show me please.

  of course we have a picture of the OUTSIDE world in our brain/minds. but it is an hologram created by brain function AS I OBSERVE IN MY CASE. its all possible because

  Our brains are reputed to be the most complex systems in the universe. it even has its own build in/around safety helmet.

  Do you miss God?

  if you are one of the posters on here who has got to the point where you do not believe in god to any great extent, do you miss "him".

  i find that i rarely used to ask god for anything, or load him up with my problems, everybody elses were far more urgent, but i did used to feel moved to praise him when i saw the beauties of creation, a sunset etc.. i now feel an urge to still do that, but do not believe anyone is listening, do you get moments like that ?.

  I dont miss God , since he has done such an expert job of hiding. If he would be what WT BtS and others picture him, he would be in court for child neglect and failing to come to aid, and leaving the scene of an accident. on the other hand he left this impressive handiwork behind. We have not heard the last of this.

  One promise that is kept for me: the earth has not seen life destroyed by man in my lifetime.

  Jaguar bass: 50% answered prayers?, whishes? odds are it was your perseverance, patience, modest requests.

  Cant leave: a designer? for me its more stupendious! its the work of a worker.

  Wt wizard: we understand if you are bitter, but dont equate WT BtS-god-wizardry with the stark reality. you have to play with the cards you are dealt. There are great ways to enjoy this life, even in adversity. think of all the people that make life hard for themselfs, spelunkers, base jumpers,-----.

  Fuzzi Paul: well said, with better words then mine, but dont count on salvation! why do we need salvation? the gift we have is enough.

  biblestudies in the report, is the numbers they show us correct?.

  i've been thinking of this, and as i am from sweden i use my own country as an example.. to notice is that sweden is high penetrated of internet.

  the young ones here is often really good in english.. and i suppose that hardly one third of the jw kids finaly get baptised.. at most positive.. .

  Or, the increase is those that formerly baked their own wafers and popped their own korks and go at it AFTER the do is over, getting tired of the work and just eat and drink as the good stuff is handed to them at the ceremony.

  Why do they (WT BtS) make this unfortunate choice of words?

  In my logos -orientated mind the the root thought in COMPANION is PANE, PAIN = BREAD in italien, french, it stands for

  the Friends that break, eat bread together. so: if they lived up to their terminalogy,

  They could clean this whole mess up by letting all partake. but that means

  to acknowledge that they have constructed a doctrinal house build in violation of the building code and

  people will get out with their valuables befor the tremors start.
