Today's watchtower: obey us, no matter what
by Tornintwo intoday's watchtower:.
obey us, obey us even when it seems strange, obeying our man made hierarchy equates to obeying god, sacrifice your own interests, work for us, don't be independent, put your own interests aside, obey some more, preach for us, build for us, enjoy it, obey some more, forgive when we are jerks to you and mistreat you, accept your changed assignment even if it seems cruel and doesn't make sense, don't complain if we move you (eg.
) because you might have to move in the new world, remember you are being trained to obey, remember to put your own interests aside, that's the way we are designed to live - it will only make you happy!

Finkelstein: Too bad Jesus didn't include to watch out for those who might sell and commercialize the Gospel.
Well, you better have have watched out, - as the tables were flying and the animals stampeded when "jesus" cleansed the temple in his story, and how about Paul: " we are not Peddlers or [colporteurs] of The Word"?

Canadian hoverboard actually works! This is paradise, told ya!
The best way to make them fly is to take them when you are "leaving on a jet plane" but airlines have banned them. As the PO stated the challenge is always the landing or any other type of contact you make when flight ends.

prologos, doesn't the WTS admin select every song for the meetings and conventions except the public talk.
Perhaps even what should be played as a background at meetings and conventions, and these choices are not bad, as elevator music goes, but I hope they never choose the newest crop or crap? I will be gone by then, perhaps.

Do they rotate out the songs that are not too popular or easy to sing? good question, if that were the case, we would have a good songbook evolving, instead, some of the oldies but goodies keep disappearing. I suspect that the same dynamics as in the " contrary elders dislike elders" thread are at work in the music department instead.

John-1-1-Colossians-1-16-all-other-things - Part 2
by Wonderment incontinued from part 1 (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5097191899136000/john-1-1-colossians-1-16-all-other-things):.
the nw translation and some of its unique renderings, like john 1.1- "a god," and colossians 1.16 - "all other things," have been consistently at the top of the most debated topics here in this forum and elsewhere from the beginning.
the anger felt by detractors of the nwt rendering of john 1.1 (a god) has diminished considerably if compared to the furious debates surrounding the verse that raged on during the 1950 thru 1970s.

jw-verite: "--Concerning the "first born of all creation", the greek word "arche" does not necessarily imply a creation but is related to the position of superiority or "leadership" of Jesus over the creation.
Verse 18 tends to confirm this by saying : "And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy." (NIV)--"
The context shows that "jesus" is considered "among", or part of the creation. veritablement. as if that mattered.

ToesUp could be right; it is one GB member acting out his fantasies to be a world class composer/arranger, with the assistance of more talented music GB helper specialists. Some of these new compositions are really ugly, whereas a few of the ones still on paper are melodious and hummable. Sad part is, that these works are a reflection of the disturbing personalities behind them. -

Untrusted
by Esmeralda001 ingreetings,it seems that jw immediately assume that all "wordly" people (as they like to call it) are immoral and unworthy of their trust.
i sort of understand how it can be dangerous for a christian to have association with someone who doesn't share their values, but don't you think that some members take the conceal lied in corinthians 15:33 to the extreme?
what about romans 2:14?

Noah's ark
by dothemath infor those that believe in the flood story as genesis says, then they also are forced to accept a huge amount of evolution, way faster than any evolutionist would propose.. from a basic selection of "kinds", to the several millions of land species there are now, and in only about 4000 years.. not to mention the many types of birds that made it to remote islands, and then somehow lost their ability to fly... not even possessing wings( ex- dodo bird, moa).
scientists agree this was a process that took eons of time.. i was thinking of this because we just had a public talk on noah.
i sure couldn't make a fool of myself on that subject, going on how "factual" it all is..

Basically endorsing the idea of mutations......they should just give up and use some "discernment" and "wisdom".
Why does wt not give up?, the real flood idea is central to their beliefs. Gd intervenes, and will again at Armageddon, like the days of Noah, world reserved for fire, scary. If Genesis is not inspired, then no talking snake, no sin, no contributing to the wt. puff!

Elders who dislike other congregation elders
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy congregation had four elders who had different personalities.you would see a little friction among themselves.. #1 self-righteous and the 800 pound gorilla.he would push everyone around in the congregation and even some fellow elders.. # 2 elder was around 80 years old and looked like he stuck around a little too long.it looked like he was around because he never decided to give up the position.his duty became very light as he aged.. # 3 elder was in his early 30's and newly elected.he made no waves and whatever was asked of him in the congregation he would do.easy to push around like a little puppy dog.. #4 elder (who everyone liked ) was easy to get along with and had a family who everyone loved.
he didn't like elder # 1. they had a power struggle amongst each other which everyone observed while the meetings were in session.. here are 2 small verbal fights that i observed while the congregation meetings were in session:.
while elder # 1 was giving a talk ( heavy rain storms are brewing outside with loud thunder and lightning ) the microphones and lights are knocked out.we lost all power and could barely see.

Honest - How does that happen? LOL.
Worldwide.
It started with the apostles, later the first GB, fighting who is the greatest, getting the family involved lobbying the king himself. Really evolution in action, proved in animal studies. animals.
