Where do I go for support???

i would love some support since i am scared and confused, but i don't know where to turn.

my husband and i are both having our eyes opened wide after years of doubts.

we have finally read the "apostate literature" over the past few weeks and have checked and rechecked their sources.

I've been DA'd for about 5 months now. Only my mom is a jw, and the rest of the family is pretty supportive to me, which I think I am quite lucky. I can only imagine what you are going through. But I'm so glad and applaud you for your and your husband's courage. I practically grew up like a jw. My mom was disfellowshipped, but she always thought the Watchtower had the truth. I joined the Watchtower later in early 20s and encouraged mom to reinstated. She did. And you know what that's going to be like with a disassociated daughter.

I married a wonderful man. Fortunately he's not a jw. We are celebrating our, more likely my, first Christmas in 12 years. We don't have children yet, but we would like to start our family tradition, and I've been researching for a while - mostly Food Network and Home and Garden TV. I still need some help on how to decorate the tree.

Spiritually speaking I'm lost. What I had been believing for all my life proved to be false. I don't know what to do yet. I'm still praying. I would like to keep God in my life and in my family.

i joined this site last week hoping to meet people that would steer me back to the organization.

instead the people i have talked to her are all trying to tell me too see the light and get out of the organization.

in my opinion, not that it matters, i really think that if a person had the truth deeply ingrained in them, they would never leave the truth.

Do not blame yourself. You might be seeing only "supposedly" good side of the Watchtower. But remember that the witnesses show you the bad side of other religions and only the good side of theirs. Look into the bad side of the Watchtower and the good side of other religions, too. If you are a college student, you should have some brain to think FAIR. Fairness. I don't know about you, but I was taught about the Communists when I was young. They, the Communists, used to say that Americans were poor and horrible and that only within their party(organization) and with their leader(s) one can achieve true happiness. Sounds familiar? If you had any doubt, you were to study more of the party (organization), and if you still doubted, you get marked and shunned or even punished. When many communists visited the western world, they saw what they had been taught was not true. So many of them defected even if that meant risking their lives.

zol, I see the similarity here. The Watchtower is getting more like the communist party. I got chill whenever they made us say that the only true friends were within the organization and that we need to distant from our family members who were not jws. Have you seen any jw working at a Homeless Shelter? Or any charity work for less fortunate ones? None. They don't believe in those.

I found out about their Sexual Abuse policy within the organization and their history of false prophecies and other things, not to mention their moral conscience. I had to stand up for what was right. I did it for me, for other people who may get contacted by jws and for my future children.

the mistakes of a few

That what I was told before I became a jw. When I did my research years later and found proofs that it wasn't just "the mistakes of a few", (in fact the whole organization from the top ( the President of the Watchtower) was in it), they admitted they false prophecy and I was to ingnore it.

They lied to me. They deceived me. Now they are destroying my family.

And don't tell me I shouldn't get upset.

how about a little friendly competition?

who can offer the best example of perfect irony?

for example, the wt teaches that we should regard the wt mag just as we would the word of god yet they also teach that they never claimed to be infallible and that you should have checked for yourself, all your fault for the mistake.

Well, they, WTS/JWs, redicule and belittle every little mistake that other religious organizations or gourps make, saying "that proves that group is false". But when they make mistakes, some serious ones as well, it has to be OK because they are human. I guess that's their subconscious confession that they are a human organization, not God's.

OK. Try to say that to the Silent Lambs. Or to those who lost everything because they were coerced to pioneer because they thought the End of the System would come in 1975. Or to those who were told not to go to college and struggling to survive - just to name a few.

If I have to wait for their spiritual light to get brighter to know whether I can call the police if my child gets molested, I say that light is toooooooo dim to guide anyone's spirituality.

If I have to be "a modern day prophet" without my intention and get proved to be false and embarassed by my spiritual guides, I say it's time to fire them and maybe sue them for misrepresentation.

If those "spiritually annointed ones" couldn't see what a mere teenager could see, that one needs to go to a college for better job, I say those "annointed ones" are real example of what Jesus said, blinds guiding blinds.

And if those "annointed" are encouraging "hatred" toward anyone who is not in the organization, going as far as breaking up families, I say THAT ORGANIZATION IS NOTHING MORE THAN A CULT.

Whatever you decide to do, I wish you and your husband the best of luck. Have a wonderful new life without the WTS/JW. If you have any close relative who is a jw, good luck. Think of your husband's DF as getting freed from a cult.

By the way what is COC? Is it Church of Christ by any chance? My brother has a close friend who is a member of that church, and I think he, my bro, goes there time to time. I don't know anything about it. I heard a little bit from my bro, but they sound kinda cultish, too.

I hate hearing, "You left Jehovah? " as if I abandoned God. I get angry. I don't know why. I'm sick of telling them, "No, I haven't left God, but I did leave a false human organization."

What would you say if some jws ask you the same question?

Just Get on With Life!

i don't start many threads, but in the last few days several things have happened with me that just compel me.

please don't take this list as anything other than imho thoughts:.

1) i was a baptized jw for 38 years (i'm now 50)---so what?

I wish it is that easy. I really want to move on and live a new life since I just got married to a wonderful man. I've been so happy. But time to time I have to deal with my mom who is an active jw. I love my mom so much, and I know that she loves me, too. The pressure that I'm getting drives me crazy. It's like my mom is a hostage. Sometimes I wish we, my husband and I, could move far away, and start a new life. But our careers are here in Bay Area. Even if we move, I don't think I can ignore my mom for good.

Yes, I want to move on.
