Among the many flaws judicial committees have is the resultant damage done by gossip etc as to why a person was df. In my own case, I was found guilty of 'brazen conduct'...because I refused to acknowledge that it was wrong ( in their eyes at least ) to repay a kindness done to my disabled wife (now deceased) by taking a carer out for a thank you meal. They refused to accept that a man can be friends with a woman without taking things further. Crazy. I have many plutonic friendships and have never taken things further even if the opportunity presented itself. It is the elders who are guilty of seeing people as unable to have either self control or show kindness without strings.. At the jc I defended my actions ( to defend oneself always sets you up for a guilty verdict, I've since realised ) by using scripture and the 'do unto others as you would have them do to you' etc etc..but to no avail. In the 4 years since I've learned that rumours spread that the carer concerned was expecting my baby (!) and that I'm now an apostate etc etc. No truth in either rumour, but because I have no contact with the rest of my ex cong I cannot correct such lies. Therein lies the injustice. The elders are able to exercise control over facts and reason for their actions. I however have no means of setting out facts. A public hearing would have proved enlightening and would have enabled input from others.

Judicial Committees should have an option to be public
by EndofMysteries inthinking back to how they went from votes by the congregation under russels time to private closed doors in rutherfords time so as to not waste time, etc, of other members.
if it really wasn't to hide things from the org, it would have an option for the person it's against to have it open to the public.
a time announced for any members or the person to bring any they want to attend.

I'm getting baptized
by BlackWolf ini know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.
my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.
i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.

..'maybe when I'm an adult'?....you're in no position to decide anything. should you get baptized?...asked and answered...by yourself!

just another nutjob intent on killing others before killing himself, as with that other renowned nutjob who crashed his plane into the side of a mountain. Just wish these nutjobs would kill themselves first, before killing others....

No Reason For JWs To Go To The MIdweek Meeting (CLAM)
by JW_Rogue ineverything that is done at the midweek meeting can now be done at home.
the videos are online, the first talk is scripted, the bible highlights are scripted.
you could get the same experience by just reading and watching the material from your tablet.

i suggested long ago that they could drop meetings midweek. That way they could revert to hiring 'worldly halls' just for sunday meetings, they then could sell all the underused halls and revert to using 'worldly halls'...which these days are equipped with sound etc. Of course, literature etc might pose an issue but the way things are going pretty soon there will be nothing in print. The way halls are underused at present is a waste of resources and fundraising. It also incurs 24/7 insurances etc just for the use of halls for approx 6 hours a week...perhaps more if shared with other congs.

On that basis they should ban lipstick.....it has origins as a way to attract mates as the red lips represent the female genitalia....! Hence ladies of the night/prostitutes wear such red lipstick for that same purpose..!

Everything about your question raises issues and highlights every reason why you shouldn't be getting baptised. 'Probably? ...Before making a final decision?..Forcing me? ...No going back?...Play it safe?..Their bad side?...etc. These words and phrases betray shallowness and self deception!. The only reason for baptism is because you genuinely sincerely want to ! NOT because of any external pressure to 'conform'. My friend, I urge you to reflect on your own true feelings....otherwise you will certainly be making a bad decision to get baptised. Be true to yourself. Avoid deceiving yourself.... -

The day may well be coming when there will be no literature produced bar the Bible. Costs/wastefulness need to be reduced. By having everything online there will be no dumped mags or other literature shoved in bins etc. Also by being just online the society can monitor public feedback instantaneously. When I suggested this to a ministry servant some years ago he laughed and said the society will always have mags etc. But mags are getting thinner and now verge on being leaflets. It is the Bible itself which resists change...hard copies have a certain image. -

My 14-year-old niece is being disfellowshipped
by keyser soze ini was contacted by my ex sister-in-law yesterday.
she asked me if i wanted to spend some time with my niece, while she went to her sister's baby shower.
it turns out my niece can't go because she's about to be disfellowshipped at the ripe old age of 14. .

What is disgusting and wrong is that a 14 year old can enter into such an unfair contract without any impartial independent advice. She's virtually being bullied and emotionally hurt because she drifted into becoming a baptised witness. To be cut off from friends and family is verging on emotional abuse, child abuse....As for her parents, this just confirms prophecy...'having no natural affection'... Have they and others thought of the possible consequences of this on a young girl of 14? Are they willing to comply with this shunning nonsense and abandon her to misery and possible self harm (or worse..) etc etc? .This is wrong. Just plain wrong. Unacceptable.
