baptize sister hoping to meet a brother
by tiffani inhi my name is tanya and i am 21 years old i have been in the truth for almost 11 years.
i am a little shy and that's why its hard for me to meet a brother.
i hope to meet someone who's spiritual strong, who shows jehovah that they are a dedicated servant to him and who also put spirtual goals first.

Tina
hmm what if the brothers requirement might be knowing how to spell tiffani?

God's will or free will?
by thinker ini've heard many people tell me about bible prophesy.
if the bible can predict future events then it stands to reason that those events are predetermined and man has no choices in this world.
think about all the choices you've made in your life and how different life for you would be if you had done things differently.

Reams and Reams of Information
by Prisca inthis post is primarily for those folk on this board, who post copious quantities of jw info on this board.. .
i can understand your wanting to help present jws and those looking for info on the organisation, but this is not the place for posting reams and reams of info.
most of us here know already this stuff.

Hi expat!
Thanks for the kind words :>
I also thought the same regarding the controlling technique of the wts.
Change isn't easy,we;ve all been there :> I think we can get into a 'comfort zone' somewhat complacent,,,,,,then boom, something comes along and forces us to rethink where we are :> Life has a tendency to do that quite often lol.
IMHO,it's also about posting/communication styles. Just as clothing, one size does not fit all....what won't work for some, will work for others......that's the beauty of diversity and tolerance.
I agree h20 had/has it's abrasive moments.....tho I don't care for it that much,I actuallly did see where that worked for a few.
I'm hopeful that we can all get along together :> Boards resemble life,we're not gonna like everyone we meet and we certainly aren't going to agree with everyone we meet.......so we make the choice to respond or to not respond. Hopefully we won't shut them up or place undue restrictions on what they can express,or how to express that,,,(leads us back to communication styles lol)
Thanks and I certainly love your posts and always read em when I see your name, hugs,T -

Just FYI AND REFERENCE
by JT inhttp://www.wcg.org/lit/aboutus/roots.htm .
often times jw will state that they are not a break off from any religion ,but a re-establishment of the "church".
well here is some info you can put in your file for ref later.

Actually alias, many of us came here before the 'major players' as you call them.....it does say at the top of the board 'free to discuss ANYTHING witness related''''doesn't it? WHy this seige mentality? This 'us against them'....you're painting all of us h20'ers with a very wide brush. And sounding quite judgemental and condemnatory to boot. Freedom of speech allows all their views and allows all to counter-view.
Isn't it a choice on your part? You can choose what you want to read? That's what started the probs on h20,some taking away our freedom to choose. I really don't understand this, maybe it was a mistake to come here.......if I see that,I'll gladly leave,Tina -

Hi Prisca,
I'm sorry you feel that way. Discussion can't encompass those things?
It makes for serious discussion......altho I certainly agree the ad hominems are not necessary........
The board is having a growth spurt, with a lot of diverse thought.with growth comes change.....
I personally enjoy reading that material here,as it backs up claims and asserions made.... when jw's(ex's) get together it seems like it would be pretty natural to have such discussions,to clear the cobwebs, get the accurate info,etc......I figured this board was (by it's very name) what that is all about......tryin to understand here, regards,Tina -

Masturbation
by CoolBreeze inthe title of this thread was one of the stumbling blocks of my study.
as a single full time father(with no time for dating)of a soon to be tenage son this was a major point of imprt to me.
the point came up during a discussion on porneia(sp?).

Tina
Hi Cool and all,
I can't remember how/why that topic came up but I do remember what I shared with my son when he was a teen.
I told him very simply that it was a normal and natural practice done privately or with a consenting partner......we were both jw's at that time. I just never agreed with their primitive thinking on sex, and didn't want to heap feelings of guilt and shame on my boy...regards,Tina -

The wonderful future Christian America.
by Norm inthose of us who have frequented h2o and have otherwise encountered our fundie friends from the usa have many times been reminded of their strange arguments and ideas.
all of them seem to long back to biblical times and particularly the times of the old testament.
they have got the idea that those days were so wonderful when everybody was adhering to biblical morals, values and such.

Hi Seaken,
I'm a survivor of extreme violence. My 1st husband was murdered when he was being robbed.........(we were both 25 yrs old) for a long time after that I had mixed feelings about the death penalty......today I'm against it. But having been a victim I can understand why many are pro-capital punishment.....it's the American judicial system. If the American people were assured that 'life meant life' in a prison sentence,I think they would be able to let the death penalty go..... but because that is so rarely the case, people do fear recidivism.
There is no rehabilitation in prisons......they're released back onto society, angry,no skills,,,and the cycle is perpetuated,,,,,,,I guess what I'm saying is it's a complex problem....a lot of factors to be considered,,,regards,Tina
