Normie,
The congrgations mentioned were groups of people who met in homes.
LDH clarified that nowhere in the bible is there a command to create an organization. There is no command to create a governing body and a heirarchy that exists today among JW's. Please show me where jesus required field service slips and counting time? The wts has taken the concept of congregation and abused and exploited it to serve their purposes and their interpretation. The wheat and weeds parable is not talking about an organization,,,,,,my thoughts,Tina

In there no good in the WTBTS??? or ourselves??
by jst2laws inwe hopefully all agree it is wrong to reject an entire race because we have found one of its member to be flawed, or to reject an entire concept an the basis of finding a flaw in its argument.
would not fair people look for a way to accept the good in the concept, modify the flawed portion and rejoice in what was gained from the refined concept?
it would also be wrong, as the wt does, to reject an entire institution because some of its precepts are flawed.

Why I Think Its The Truth!
by normie67 inthis is normie thoughts on the threads about the truth..... i have huge doubts about a lot of things about the org.
i have been a jw for 20 yrs and still active(family reasons).
but nobody but nobody has refuted to my mind, the fact nobody does the evangelizing work jesus did.

Normie,
What evidence do you have that there was a 1st century 'organization?' Can you present it please?
Thanks,Tina -

Hi,
I well remember a special needs talk given by our CO.
I came from a very poor inner city cong.
Our donations were obviously lacking, according to his talk,,,,
He said that many bros at Bethel were walking around with 'flood pants' and lacked other essentials.......made the cong feel that we weren't supporting the needs of bethelites.........(this from a guy wearing a Brioni suit)
After his parting talk,I watched as he discreetly palmed envelopes given him(which I knew contained money)
This was a single bro with no expenses, great clothes, new car.......the whole sham was disgusting,,anyway
just me few thoughts,Tina -

Anyone out there?
by Clark66 inmy name is clark.
i have been disfellowshiped since december 31, 1991. i attended the redwood city north congregation and was disfellowshipped along with an elder on the same night...you do the "mathwork.".
i am new to this sight (about 1/2 hour) and am not familiar with the format of the do's and don'ts ... or even if i should be here.... however, i have a question for anyone...(and i'm ready for the answers whether it be from over enthusiastic jw's or people who understand...or from anyone in between).. i was disfellowshipped because i openly admitted before 3 elders that i am gay and lived this life as a gay man despite being previously a regular pioneer and a ministerial servant.

Book Recommendation: The Bible Unearthed
by GinnyTosken ini recently finished reading the bible unearthed: archaeology's new vision of ancient israel and the origin of its sacred texts by israel finkelstein and neil asher silberman.
here is part of a review that drew my attention to the book:.
the book reaches its conclusions from a huge array of archaeological evidence of different kinds, some quite clever, such as the analysis of camel bones; others representing new trends in field archaeology, such as settlement surveys.

Interesting essay on Mithras
by expatbrit inbeen doing a bit of reading on mithras.. this essay contains some interesting information.
count the parallels between the legends of mithras and that of christ.. one of the "proofs" given to show that the gospels must be divinely inspired is that relatively simple men of the first century could not have fabricated such a powerful mythos.
a simpler explanation is that they merely made use of thousands of years of pre-existing religious ideas, shaping them to fit their own needs, as follows.. expatbrit.
