let me tell you a story.
i have a wonderful 18 year old son who is almost as smart as he thinks he is.
he is currently a freshman at northeastern university in boston, in their engineering program.

a few weeks back, kinsman posted a link about a recent survey of religion in america which showed that 68% of all jehovah's witnesses were female, which is the highest ratio of women to men in any religion in the usa.. i believe the reason for this unbalance in adherents in favor of women comes down to two fundamental reasons.
the first is shunning and the second is the appeal of the "family type atmosphere" that the witnesses pretend to offer.. we all know the power of shunning keeps a lot of people trapped inside the collective, and just due to the fact that women are enculturated more with having emotional bonds with others, makes it a bit tougher to leave family and friends behind.
this doesn't mean that men don't suffer emotionally, but the general trend is more for men to suppress their feelings and damn the emotional torpedoes and go full speed ahead out of the bad dream.. this suggests to me, that if there is a major modification of the shunning policy, the largest exodus will be in the female ranks.

Fundamentalism is part of the societal conditioning that perpetuates the patriarchal notion of 'divinely ordained' female roles and subjection. I think far too many women despite some progress that has been made,find this to be acceptable and 'comfortable' due to being oriented in a society based on the male values construct.
Religions such as the JW's foster the sense of male privilege,one too many women are familiar with and don't challenge.Passivity is powerlessness. Having such a mindset/worldview ingrained in them,historically,culturally and economically keeps women(and attracts them) in patriarchal based religions like this. It's the old gender politics of a super male(sky-daddy) who is more powerful. Just another form of jock worship and abdication of personal power. just my dos centavos

oh that horn lol. I have a gold one on a chain.Handed down to me from family. There's also a little gold hand I was given .The pointer and small finger extended......according to Italian superstition the horn protects you from malocchio(evil eye) the hand and finger signal puts it on em.lol
As a small child,I used to hear that when someone was going thru probs or having bad luck,somebody 'put the horns on them'. lol Gotta love the old time superstitions,hugs and luv sweetie,T
