  this is part one, and thanks to amazing, duncan and hillary for their inspirations and getting me motivated.. cheers!.

  Frustration of Discussion

  frustration of discussion .

  discussions with my fellow jehovahs witnesses (jw) is not an easy affair when difficult subjects and questions are addressed to ones who pride themselves on an ability to answer for all doctrines as published in the watchtower, which we know as the chief journal of the governing body of jehovahs witnesses and published by the watchtower bible and tract society of new york (wts) and associated corporations.

  a recent experience exemplifies this difficulty and how it poses a considerable hindrance to growth in knowledge and understanding among jws.

  in an esquire magazine article entitled "end the cuba embargo, now" walter mead makes a very good case that the american embargo of cuba should end, and now.

  not only would it help cuba but it would strengthen america's position in the western hemisphere.. as he makes his case, he draws the reader's attention to the powerful political alliance of cuban americans living in south florida primarily miami.

  this coalition ("miami") has had a stranglehold on american-cuban foreign policy for thirty years, regardless of who lived in the white house.

  Tremendous irony, here. The exile mentality not only fits ex-JW's, but also JW's, who are "alien residents".

  Just as ex-JW's exaggerate their impact on the Society, JW's overestimate their overall impact on society in general.

  Compare the commentary given following an assembly experience to the remarks after an ex has given their story. Both deal in hyperbole.

  You presented the UN matter objectively, with clarity.

  Actually, the association was fairly innocuous, EXCEPT when judged in the light of the Society's OWN pre-association and post-association statements. They are indicted by their own words.

  The blood issue, on the other hand, is rapidly becoming the proverbial can of worms.

  If I read it as it is and I am right, are you a grandpa now? I saw in another thread you mentioned getting your son's life back on track. I just wanted to say congrats to you for that Please let us know if you are a grandpa, so we can shower you with praise!

  sorry. . actually intended to post to the demon thread. The thread turned into an academic credentials outdo("I studied remote viewing as part of my CIA training"). I don't know why the boys can't just say they heard a voice, some plates flew across the room and they saw a form out of the corner of their eye. Why get all pseudo-scientific on us?

  So, I hit microwhatever new page and just stared at the screen and made up that silly little ditty. Nothing related to reality.

  Is this world ruled by Demons and are we?

  to me, one of the most pathetic and lamest of all watchtower teachings is the fantasy that satan and the demons rule the world.

  the witnesses are terrified of these demons getting into their minds through everything from wearing old clothes bought at the thrift store to smoking cigarettes (remember all drugs give demons easy access to your mind.).

  they would have you believe that each country on earth is controlled by really big mean and tough demons (hey demons cant be nice you know) and they are actively controlling the minds of the political leaders in a global chess game because they have nothing better to do.. i was wondering then if anyone can show me a single itsy bitsy tiny amount of evidence to show any credible physical evidence or logical/metaphysical reasoning to back the jw ideological boogey men.

  Mindchild,

  This is perhaps not the appropriate thread for my observations since you've included a couple of additional components that limit the topic. I did find this observation by You Know somewhat interesting:

  Anyway, here’s what I would suggest: Since you don’t accept God’s or Christ’s word for it, why don’t you look up someone who is an occultist and interview them on the subject and see what they tell you? I am not suggesting at all to read or practice occultism, because I know it can be extremely dangerous, but, if you really want to investigate this thing, go act as an investigative reporter and go talk to some people who KNOW that the demons are real. They may be able to enlighten you where all others have failed.

  You Know makes an additional observation that I believe to be true for many JW's:

  When I began studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses I still kept dabbling with LSD and my little visitors became very disturbed. They threatened me with death on numerous occasions if I didn’t stop my association with Jehovah’s Witnesses. So, that only reinforced my conviction that Jehovah’s Witnesses had the truth, relatively speaking

  I agree with YK in this respect, that since Jehovah and angels do not reveal themselves to humans, any evidence that wicked spirits exist is perhaps as powerful a reinforcement of the JW belief system as anything.

  Not a prolific chatterer, myself, I nonetheless took notice February 17, 2002 of the list of those participating in Live Chat. It read like a "Who's Who of JWD".

  Live Chat: Farkel, teejay, bigboi, Norm, Kent, Valentine and Cowboy. Later SmolderingWick and Mindchild joined in.

  It would have been interesting to have snuck in as a lurker, but Simon does not give us that option. So, I made my obligatory "Hi"'s and slithered back into the Second School to watch history being made.

  The give-and-take was rough and tumble and ran the gamut of JW topics: demons, BOA letters, palm reading, beer drinking and more demons. It was exhilirating, to say the least.

  Several of the participants were actually hyperventilating and had to make quick exits(Farkel, Kent, Norm). Hope they're OK.

  Now, just a few minutes later, I glance at the top of the screen and see:
