  Nephew going to bethel - seeking seed planting ideas

  i have posted a handful of times so far.

  i am seeking some ideas to plant some seeds with my nephew before he goes to patterson.. a little about me and the going away party where i will have an opportunity to plant these seeds.

  i have a little freedom since i am the only relative that he is in communication with that spent some time at bethel.

  If I would talk with them I would definately secretly record it. After the meeting I would tell them I am posting it on YouTube. I would really enjoy seeing the anger and frustration on there faces. Knowing that I completely disobeyed them.

  The insensitivity and opportunistic nature of witness at the 9/11 site !

  i saw an online post with pictures of all the witnessing carts all around the 9/11 site during the anniversary of the tragedy.... im appalled at how opportunistic they are, and how they prey on people in a mourning and vulnerable state!.

  apparantly they boast of: "there are 65 carts, with 200 witnesses manning the area... and so far 15 new studies started!".

  i've picked up two that stood out to me but i'm sure others will have noticed more:.

  he gave an illustration about fearing god and he said it is like a wife who has spent all day preparing the evening meal for her husband and she hears him come home and perhaps she is trembling a bit out of fear that he might not like the meal she has cooked for him....!!!!!!!!????.

  the other was about verbal abuse and how it should not be used but rather than site the effect it has or the forms it can take he said that we shouldn't call each other " dumb dumb" or "knuckle head" .

  thinking of leaving

  i am 46 and have been a jw for only 6 years.

  i was doing ok until about a month ago.

  we were having an international convention and i heard the brother that had to pick up 2 of the members of the governing body had to get a background check done on him and his wife.

  If you send a DA letter you are playing by there rules. If you feel you need to let them know. Give the letters to everyone in the KH except the Elders. This way people in the congregation will know why your leaving and you may be able to help others to leave as well.

  here's a thought: we're told over and over how employers sing the praises of their jw employees, sometimes with a vague quote about how 'if we could only hire jws, we would as they are so honest'.

  however, while some jw employers themselves may hire jw employees (usually cheap entry level positions), most don't.

  in fact, many jw's in general who have businesses have a rule not to do work with jws, even those in their congregation.

  My father and brother had JWs working for them. The JW employees were constantly steeling from the company. One time one of the non-JW workers caught two JWs having sex in one of the upstairs offices. Of course the elders handled it. Because they were witnesses they got to keep there job. The JW workers were not honest when it came to writing up there time to get paid. They always wrote down extra time.

  Later when my brother (who eventually DA) took over the company we would find groups of JW employees drawing up prints for Kingdom Halls, while charging the company for there time. The list goes on. I could write a book about how the took advantage of my father and brother.

  Plain and simply I would NEVER hire a JW. They are the biggest thieves out there.

  Eventually my brother fired all of the JWs except for one. He was the only JW who worked there that I have respect for, and he's not considered to be a good JW by the local congregation.

  in some ways i just have to admire wt for the amount of crap they can take and despite this can keep it from the r&f, and still keep coming up smelling of roses.

  you think about all the dramas they have had and can yet still keep showing an increase - all be it in internet deprived developing countries.

  but even still an over all increase is still an increase.

  Expressions on faces at DC/RC

  i have become more observant at the last couple district conventions of jws faces and enthusiasm and it seems to be very somber.

  i remember a couple of years ago i was an attendant at one of the upper sections at the blue cross arena in rochester, ny and in afternoon session at least half were curled up with their eyes closed, some with blankets.

  the applause seems very forced and mechanical.

  One thing that always strikes me is the number wandering the hallways during the session.

  Yes, I have to agree. If you take notice you have more people wondering the hall at a JW Ass'y than you do at a regular event. Is this because there material is boring?

  I also noticed that the restrooms are kept cleaner Non-JW events than at Ass'y.
