WoW, when you see these pictures you can tell how the leaders promoted themselves. How could we buy the idea that they were chosen by God?

That is a great sales report besty! All you have to do with the JW's is analyze them just like you do with a business traded in Nasdaq.

Talking with a nonbeliever...
by suavojr inin my search for the truth and the burning desire to become free from all forms of dogma and wishful thinking.
i have approached my first crossroads in my life, should i continue to believe in a god or not?.
currently i am leaning toward agnosticism, but all the suffering in the world, all the loss and pain in my own life makes it hard for me to simply let go of the idea and hope that at the end justice will prevail, that one day god can make it all good.. .

Is not easy to wash away 33 years of JW indoctrination but after learning TTATT, I have come to the conclusion that you don't need an answer to everything. The danger comes in thinking you have to have an answer, resulting in giving opinions dressed as answers. I have also fully understood that if something can happen, it can happen to you, or someone you love.
But not having the belief in a God leaves you with no real comfort, and with the realization that you will see your loved ones die.
Yet, like cofty said: the evidence for God is unconvincing.
But I still get hung up on the question of a first cause… you know, what came before the “big bang”
HOW WOULD I LOVE TO KNOW THE ANSWER!

This past weekend I wasted my time at another JW CA, during this time this is what our new DO shared with all the drones and I just wanted to share with all of the current awaken JW's or ex-JW's.
Public Address: Who Is “Rocking” the Nations, and How?
We all know the JW leaders love talk about numbers!
Interesting stats
- We preach in 239 different nations and in 600 different languages
- Our literature is in over 650 languages, and during this year our goal is to translate our literature into 1000 different languages! There is not a single corner of the planet that is out of our reach.
- We are 8 million JW’s!
- Our website JW.org reaches 230 nations, and it is available in 316 languages, with literature in 600 languages. Our website also receives 900,000 unique visits daily and 5 million videos are streamed monthly.
He stated ‘the JW’s do not interpret the bible, the bible interprets itself” he later read Hebrews 12:26: 26 At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, "Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens."
This has been occurring since 1914, for one century Jehovah has been shaking the earth. The organization will NOT BE SHAKEN in the GT and during the big A.
FINAL TALK
Work Hard to Remain in Jehovah’s Teaching!
The DO mentioned how in Mexico they allowed a 6 year old girl to get baptized.
He ended the talk by saying that this year’s DC will bring big surprises for all JW’s, STAY TUNED...

The human race will cease to exist. We will never know because we'll be long dead.
Very true, because evolution does not distinguish any species and thus the strongest always survive. But we also have to be honest to ourselves and admit that no one has the answer to the source of life and all the energy that surrounds us. At the same time, I also understand that an entity like an all-powerful God with an unlimited amount of energy is a more complicated and improbable hypothesis than having no God.

Non religious people have more focus to look at solutions more objectively IE not searching for deistic/theological solutions, but concentrating on the humanistic causes.
That is what I mean! When take out the God of the gaps, we realize that we can do more to bring change.
Can we go beyond what we have accomplished? How can we bring a positive change into this world as a species?
But mankind suffers from a darker side as well, i.g. greed, lust, wrath, envy, pride, etc… I also suspect that this is the reason why the God of any literature reflects these human features.

We can’t force people to be/do good
We can’t magically eradicate all sickness
We can’t stay young a longer time
We can’t end wars, rape, murder, famines, etc.
The human race came up with the idea of a God to fix all the above issues just mentioned, but I frankly have not read or heard of any solutions from people like the late Hitchens, Carl Sagan, Dawkins, Sam Harris, etc…
Now, do you think that the human race will be able to fix most of the problems it faces? Since the proof for a God is as close as to a flying teapot, what solutions can nonbelievers bring to the table?

Thank you all for your great replies!
My statement about “No one is born an atheist. “was made by Ron Rhodes.
Oh Gawd, you said:
1. The same response could be used both ways. Although the premise itself is false.
Very true, all believers have is simply assumptions and the idea of a God that has changed throughout the ages and it is still evolving in the hearts and mind of the people who choose to believe.
Thank you for confirming that I will survive the journey. Right now in my life it is hard that I cannot be true to myself in front of my wife and family, but I need to keep digging and find the answer that is true to me. I just don’t buy the idea of a God that takes millions of years to fix things or even thousands of years - if you think like a creationist-
The road is steep and the price I must pay is high, but the journey will lead me to the freedom that I want!
Thank you cantleave and punkofnice for your input as well.
