My dad is 65 and collecting social security, although he thinks the end is near and the big A can hit any minute now. I'm happy to know that he worked hard for his money, paid off his house, owns a business and has a solid health. You see, although my dad is a hardcore Jdub and believes in 1914... He always understood that no man can say when the end will actually come. The down side to this scenario, is that my parents will not give up the elder status and seniority they enjoy within the org.

The elders of the 1980s are now in their 60s and 70s
by truthseeker inhaving just come back from the uk and spoke with some witnesses to find out how my old congregation is doing, i realized i am now the age that my elders were when i was a kid.
and i wonder what the elders who are now in their 60s and 70s are thinking when they look in the mirror and an old face looks back at them.
many of the elders in my old hall are now retired.

Are there any ex-missionaries here??
by fulano ini have been a missionary in the dominican republic for almost 10 years and i was wondering if there were any ex-missionaries on this forum.. i am back in my country now for 3 years and totally inactive.. what i noticed in those missionary-years was the lack of spiritual interest among the missionaries.. discussions were about rooms, cars and greater responsibilities, the bad territory.
and the local c.o.s and d.os.. was this only in the dr or are there other experiences??.

Just found this thread Fulano, if you read this. Do you know if Pete Paschal is still around and doing well? When I was 12 he stayed many times at my house while he was visiting the cong. He was a sweet person and I have good memories of him and his wife. Actually, his wife could cook some good spaghettis. -

So I was enjoying a business trip in down town Bangkok...............Next thing BANG!!!

yards from my hotel.
thankfully i made a few decision that meant i wasn't in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Remember the two elderly sisters?
by John Aquila inabout a month ago i posted what had happened to two elderly sisters who were reprimanded by a couple of elders for crying because the jw broadcasting was going to be stopped at the kingdom hall and it was up to each publisher to learn how to use the internet.
if you recall the sisters got together with my mom and talked about it and it resulted in all of them declining to make meals for the pioneers.
