  Are there any ex-missionaries here??

  i have been a missionary in the dominican republic for almost 10 years and i was wondering if there were any ex-missionaries on this forum.. i am back in my country now for 3 years and totally inactive.. what i noticed in those missionary-years was the lack of spiritual interest among the missionaries.. discussions were about rooms, cars and greater responsibilities, the bad territory.

  and the local c.o.s and d.os.. was this only in the dr or are there other experiences??.

  Hey Fulano! Nice to hear from you.

  During the week of our first Circuit Overseer visit, Paschal was staying in our home. The meetings were held next to the house. It was a small congregation of 21 publishers and my dad was the only elder. On the first day of the our visit, my dad was running late and showed up 20 minutes to the hour. I was only 12 and thought my dad was going to get a scolding from the CO!

  It was Paschal's first visit, it was a new congregation, he was the only elder and he was late due to WORK... and to make things more interesting the bathroom had no running water!!! 20 minutes to go live and give our best impression was about to burn up in flames. "Oh my, here comes the dreaded beating" I Said to myself.

  Well no, what he did left me without words. I could not believe it and it showed me the value of humility towards others. Pete Paschal, our CO went to my dad and told him that the bathroom was ready. My dad was confused and asked him what had he meant.

  Paschal had carried water from and outside tank, grabbed a clean towel and made sure the bathroom had everything needed to take a shower and my mom had his clothes ready. This was something that stuck with me and Paschal gained my respect.

  Nevertheless, it is so sad to see good people with a fogged mentality due to the WT, can you imagine all the great things they would do without the WT lenses?

  some people point out the subliminal pictures in the wtbts publications but sometimes things are just so obvious, such as the title of the book above.. the person who came up with the title for this book must have had a good old laugh.. interestingly, this book first came out in 1988 and has not been included in the online library but nothing has replaced it.

  the org is really going backwards when they ditch old light and cannot come up with anything new.

  this may have been discussed before.

  the costs for using the assembly hall for a one day last saturday was $12,000 with another assembly for the other half of the circuit on sunday, which will ring up another $12,000.

  if the assembly was for two days the friends might roll their eyes if it were announced the costs for the two days was $24,000.

  The per capita for our last one day assembly was $10.00 per publisher, the kicker is how they charge $5.50 per publisher for the maintanence of the building and $4.50 per publisher for KH building constructions. So they still charge for the KH constructions from the circuit and when the Jdubs go back to their KH, they get charged again a montly fee designated for construction. What a way to rip people

  there is a certain elder in my wives hall that has seemed to developed a real interest her.

  first he seemed to feel a need to make sure all her blood cards were signed before she gave birth to our child.. he sends her text messages if she misses a meeting saying how much " we missed you last night ".

  he finally sent her a text wondering where her oct hours were , knowing she had some pretty serious tears from child birth and could hardly even walk, much less do field service ".

  It has been said in this thread but I want to emphasize it.

  This goes against all the training the elders get of never contacting a person from the opposite sex alone. Specially when the spouse is not a JW. You must talk with your wife first about the issue, and make sure she understands that is not because you hate the Jw's. It is to avoid reproach to Jehovah's name (use the JW lingo) then talk with the Coordinator of the body of elders and have this guy present. Let them know that if he does not STOP this asap, you will contact the Circuit Overseer.
