2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and then what?
by truthseeker inin just a few weeks, this year will end and a new one begins.
nothing special, just 2006.. but when you analyse the jw doctrine, it is another nail in their already 91 nail studded coffin.
the watchtower has for decades taught that jesus' presence and rulership began in 1914. since changing the generation of 1914 doctrine, a whole decade has passed, with little in the way of anything new.

If you want to stay ahead of Jehovah's chariot, just think like a business corporation. If you want to know what's the GB's next potential move, just think like a business Corp. The reason it takes so long for any changes to get implemented within the borg, is because it is ran as a business for profit for the few elite on the top. It is just a business, GET OVER IT!
Now the GB will introduce a new class, the elite few that can be on their "Truth Network", I wonder how many will fall for just 15 minutes of fame. If they treat good speaking elders like rock starts, imagine the elders on JW.TV
We might feel shoked with all the changes but this religion is simply changin tactics to stay alive.

The GB is being forced to go more mainstream and show a side that has never been shown before. Image the impact these changes will have, not with the old timers but with the new generation of young JW's just dreaming of being on JW.TV and doing pioneering of ten hours is a breeze standing next to a trolley without talking.

Attention Governing Body: October 2, 2014 is only 940 days away...
by Alfred inin 1823, john aquila brown (a man who is not mentioned in any wt publication) came up with a bizarre mathematical calculation which totalled 2,520 years (in an unauthorized attempt to predict the end of the gentile times).... several religions recycled this bizarre calculation, including the adventists and the bible students... when armageddon didn't come on the variety of early 20th century dates predicted by several "dooms-day" religions of that time (including charles taze russell's bible students who predicted that the big a would start in 1914), they all finally realized that this 2,520-year calculation was nothing more than arbitrary mathematical speculation derived from erratic biblical extrapolation.... except for the bible students who continued to move up the date for armageddon 2 more times (1918, 1925) and then decided to use wwi as the starting point for the "last days".. all the while, one thing that seems to remain intact is the october 2, 1914 date.
oddly, for the watchtower bible & tract publishing cult, this particular date still marks the end of the 2,520-year period (that john aquila brown referred to in his bizarre 1823 book "the even tide")... again, no mention of this in any watchtower publication.
but, for jws, that date still remains the starting point for the period of time often referred to as the "last days" or even "the generation that shall not pass".. because of this, the governing body has been forced to change the definition of "the generation that shall not pass" countless times since the early 1970's.

my first post! (long read sorry in advance)

i've always been a very curious person with tons of questions about everything, and i also care deeply particularly about societal issues like social injustice, racism, and homophobia.
that, coupled with how boneheaded all the elders in my congregation are (except for one), led me to ask even more questions that led me to find ttatt.. .

Welcome! Your story is almost like mine.
I was baptized as a young teenager, and although I was always viewed as a great example in the congregation, my closest friends and I were leading what would be labeled as "double lives" by the borg. Drinking, partying, having "worldly" girlfriends at school. Not to say I didn't feel terribly guilty about this. Every time "double life" was brought up at conventions, I knew that's exactly what I was guilty of, but I never had the courage nor the guts to "confess".
This is just a method they use to control your emotions and make you do what they say. We can all live a normal life and have some fun, after all, all JW's sin
Looking back, I thank god for the internet (yes, I said god… I’m still on the fence about that one)
I think the best advice I can give you is to not be in any hurry to reach any conclusions. Have a look for names like, Christopher Hitchens, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris and Bart Ehrman. The two major popular anti-theist books in recent years were "God is not great" by Hitchens and "The god delusion" by Dawkins.
I read 1984 as a high school kid and even prided myself as a fan of this masterpiece.
Oh the irony...
My only question now is what to do??? My wife is a long time pioneer and heavily emotionally invested in the org.
