The themes JWs prioritize that i know are Armageddon, Judgement Day, Christ. But can you all tell me WHY they prior. Armageddon-what does it serve them, and other they prioritize and why?

by this i mean, if it wasn't in their interest, they wouldn't stress these doctrines (teachings) or wouldn't even exist for them.

Little Toe, its interesting to read your DA letter. As i am writing a thesis on JWs i needed to know what intentional distortions and corruption they make in order to support their doctrines. It is not enough to say they are interpreting passages differently because many do so. But intentional translation of texts is more persuasive.

I am very pleased at all you people who are replying. I am doing a study and this is a great way of getting to ask people the reasons for their involvement. I wonder if any of you, despite most of you being brought up as a JWs from small, if anyone can point on recruiting techniques which are common to JWs. One example could be to know whether they provide sufficient information on their teaching in the beggining or when they recruit what things they talk about, stuff like that.

Thanks for your reply. However, i was hoping that in this forum, which is specifically for JWs i can get something for my thesis. I am writing an academic thesis, PhD about JWs. I have talked and pointed many places in Col. and Cor. and Hebrews and Revelations where they are interpreting the text differently. A stronger argument will be to actually show deliberate distortion and assess the degree of divergence of JWs from mainstream Christianity. They may be interpreting texts differently, but hey, many other Christian denominations interpret the same text differently.
Also, with what texts cann't htey do without? There are doctrines of JWs which support their own governmental structure and organisation is based on them, which if they don't have they'll fall apart, e.g. on the 'faithful and discreet slave'. Or that JEsus Christ is not the head of the church because if he was, there'd be no need of GB.

jws are advocating religious freedom for the simple reason that they want to be recognised as a religion in some countries and freely advocate their beliefs.
they believe they should be given equal rights as a christian denomination.
but i happen to know, when a member of jws wants to leave the organisation, there are meetings with the elders, things are said to you that only wts is the true organisation of god.

How do you reconcile freedom of religious belief with the judgement that JWs are offensive heretics?

My point is, they demand freedom of belief for their followers, but do they grant that freedom to anyone who wishes to leave the organisation? According to Article ?? of the HRD every person has the right to freely choose his religion....freely to CHANGE his belief (can't quote it exact). Do JWs actually give freedom of belief to their own followers?
