as well as most congs having a number of bro no works there were generally some outspoken ones who at the hint of an issue or problem demanded to know "what are we going to do about this..." bro hard nose, who generally wanted to have firing squads set up or a talk from the platform but surprisingly they were never going to do anything, just get other elders to take on more work.. bro no work and bro hard nose seemed to have taken a course in criticism as that was their speciality why is this happening, who is sorting this out, when will this be done, all questions that indicate an interest but not enough to do anything.. eventually with one bro hard now who had demanded to now at an elders meeting what was going to happen to a family who "harboured" a disfellowshiped daughter, i cracked and asked him, what are you going to do, because i bet it is the same as me, nothing, i respect the parents for having the moral and physical care of their daughter in mind".

one circuit visit was from paul presland, a kind enough brother who had a severe limp.

my son almost had to be chained down as he followed the co and mimicked his limping.

part 1 of some memories.

i was an elder in the cong and had a young family and a demanding job about an hours drive away.

i suppose most elder bodies had vocal passengers and some workers, literally pne elder could explain in detail how to claim benefits rather than work so you would think with no job ties he could have all the time in the world to help...wrong!.

Divorced by Layoff

after decades of "marriage" to bethel being laid off is like a divorce, shattering and devastating with feelings of betrayal and distrust.

i have been made redundant from an employer with generous terms yet it was an emotional trauma being torn away from what i as a big part of my life.

being laid off so casually by an organisation that claims to be far superior toanywordlyemployer must be devastating.

i had heard that gb members flew first class, does anyone know if this is so?.

also, bethel living accommodation, do they have same standard as all bethelites or do they get luxury quarters.. same for cars, are they provided luxury cars as was once the case?.

or are they all sharing in the downsizing, who cooks for them, cleans and does laundry.

sitting listening to some very evocative music, rachmaninov, my mind wandered across 4 decades of friendships and laughter in the borg, friiends now faded to memories.

the time in "the ministry" just after a co visit when he had urged us to knock more persistently at doors instead of quiet taps so we did not disturb anyone.

i was with someone and showing off how loud i could knock and firmly attacked the large brass door knocker in the centre of the door.

having only seen this item of begging i feel physically sick.

a repellant zombie moved his body as if he was a puppet, and as uk people may know the old tv show red dwarf, he looked just like the character criton, crystal cathedral tv evangelism would have been embarrassed at this disgusting plea for money.. mention made of kh loans cancelled, yet who now owns them and can sell whenever they want.

this caricature of a programme could not have plumbed lower depths, if the presenter had given a talk at the kh when i was going i would have run screaming out, his script, smile, look sincere, smile, raise arm etc etc was pathetic.

been absent for more than 10 years as i have had surgery sand radiation etc for brain tumour.

was in icu for 6 months and lost hearing in one ear, most of sight and physical disabilities.

was a member then just before simon emigrated to us, he had lived quite near me in uk.
