Cleburne is south of Fort Worth, not too far from Burleson, TX where the first American Idol Kelly Clarkson grew up...
Here's the article from the Cleburne newspaper.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration said Tuesday it will conduct an inspection this week of the Sunday morning incident at the Gunderson Southwest rail yard in Cleburne that severely injured Truman Lee Duncan, 36, of Cleburne.
Gunderson management notified OSHA of the incident Sunday, said Mike Talmont, OSHA assistant Fort Worth area director.
“They didn’t have to report the accident as it wasn’t a fatality or involve three or more people who were hurt,” Talmont said.
The inspection will include interviews with eyewitnesses or with people who do the same kind of activity at the facility, he said.
The inspection will be conducted like a routine accident investigation “like we normally do,” Talmont said. Inspectors will talk with Duncan when he is able.
Duncan remained in critical condition at Harris Methodist Fort Worth hospital Tuesday morning.
A police report said that Duncan and Gunderson employee Christopher Payne were attempting to couple eight railcars to three other railcars when the incident occurred.
Payne told police he could only think of two ways the accident could have happened. Duncan may have been attempting to cross the tracks and was hit by the train or he was getting on or off a car and fell or was pulled under the train, the report stated.
The railcars did not stop moving until they were coupled together, Payne told police. He then heard Duncan scream, the report said.
Duncan used his cell phone to make the first 9-1-1 call.
Duncan told the operator he was at Gunderson Southwest.
“I just got ran over by rail cars,” Duncan said calmly. “I need 9-1-1, CareFlite. I think I’m cut in two. You need to hurry up now.”
The operator asked Duncan where he was and he again said “Gunderson Southwest.”
He told the operator more than once he was about to pass out and thought he was going into shock.
The operator kept talking to Duncan, trying to keep him on the phone.
Payne’s 9-1-1 call was received less than a minute later.
Police, fire and CareFlite were immediately dispatched.
Once emergency workers arrived, they were delayed finding Duncan. Neither Duncan nor Payne gave the operator the incident’s specific location inside Gunderson when they called, and the Gunderson security guard did not know there was a problem.
Once found it took rescuers close to an hour to get Duncan freed from the railcar wheel. They used heavy wooden blocks and inflatable air bags to raise the open hopper car high enough to free him.
The company released a statement through Gretchen M. Brask, senior staff attorney, for Gunderson Southwest’s parent company, Greenbrier Leasing Corp. in Lake Oswego, Ore., late Monday afternoon.
“We have assured ourselves that [Duncan] is getting the best of medical care and that he is attended by his loved ones,” Brask wrote. “The thoughts and prayers of the entire Gunderson organization go out to him and his family at this time.” -

OMG!!! The UN took away my computer!!!
by Elsewhere inthat's right... when you go visit the un building you are not allowed to bring any large bags with you, which includes a notebook computer bag, so they made me check the bag and they gave me a ticket so i could get it back later.. did you know that the 18 acres of the un facility is not us territory?
i was surprised to learn that it is "international territory" that does not belong to any country.. .
on other things... .

Since Lisa Rinna's Soapnet show just got cancelled, I predict she'll be on the View. I also predict that next year will be the View's last season. Let Barbara finally retire and have lunch with her girlfriends, let Elisabeth have another baby, let Rosie shut up and let Joy do stand up at some cabaret in Upper Manhattan.

WednesdayI used to write that story from my previous job when I was oh so bored. Then I got canned from that job and now my new position I've been at almost a year and I don't have time at work, besides my boss is so work-oriented and anal (albeit nice) I wouldn't dare do it from there. However, I'm on holiday starting next week, so I'll have lots of time to finish up that silly story.
