Have any of you been a victim of a Break in?
by Uzzah ini guess i must have led a charmed life until now, but over the weekend someone broke into my home.
it isn't so much that they took stuff (slr camera, cell phone that belonged to a volunteer disaster services team, and cash) but that someone was in my private space without my knowledge.
it is amazing the head games such an event plays on you.

My very first concert was in 1976. I was 14 years old and called the local radio station and happened to win Cat Stevens tickets. So my friend and I went to the concert and saw a wonderful magic show before the concert and the trick that amazes me, when a guy chains himself into the trunk and they put a curtain over it and voila, they open the trunk and Cat Stevens pops out singing "Wild World." I was hooked!

Did anything a householder said ever make an impression on you?
by Alleymom incoming at this as a householder rather than an ex-jw, i'd love to hear from any of you about comments from householders that made an impression on you, back when you were active in the door-to-door work.
since the jw's first knocked at my door 13 years ago, i've done my best to give them something to think about every time they knock at my door.
i always introduce myself by name and try to get their names.

I remember several of our congregation's territories got worked extremely often. The congregation's reigning queen, Miss Pioneer (she didn't win Miss Congeniality) and I were out one day in a subdivision of mostly duplexes. I never will forget we knocked on this guy's door and as soon as he opened the door, his mouth dropped. "You were here last week, as a matter of fact, it was you (pointing to pioneer). She said "Well I hope we didn't disturb you." He then went on to ask her "Is this a training ground for Jehovah's Witnesses?"

I always hated counting time. I knew that Jesus never turned in time slips, so why did we have to do it? Drove me crazy. I went door-to-door and did lots of laundrymats. When I stopped attending meetings, Mom and Dad drove me bonkers, saying I was rebellious, insult infinitum. Eventually everyone left me alone...

JWs always become frightened....

a few weeks ago i was outside doing the old yardwork routine: mow my postage stamp size of a yard, trim the bushes, edge it.
it was saturday and the jws were once again working my street.

The high mayor of a French town hates JW's
by Mulan inmy brother visited us today, and told us an interesting experience he had last week in france.
he was in the netherlands on business, and they went to france for a few days to visit friends of one of his business contacts, who was the high mayor of a french town, i cannot pronounce, or remember.
one evening this man began to rant and rave about the jehovah's witnesses in his town and how much he hates them.

I attempted to place two of the Paradise books to my friends in France, both of which turned me down flat. Those two books sat in my stack-up JW library until I gave all of my books to a countercult ministry. I guess it didn't have a lasting effect because I still correspond with them after all these years!
