Tech49 on DC: Experiences are not truthful
by Tech49 ini was sent a link to a homemade video from our summer district convention, not the one i attended, but the next weekend.
it was a video of a local brother, relating his "experience" of "trusting in jehovah", and how he was blessed.. it was just about 1 short minute long.
ms harper showed it to me first, she wanted to get my comment on it before she said a word.. background: we both know this brother, he is about our age, so we know the "real" story.. anyways, his story goes like this: this experience goes back about 10 years (jeez, we must be really searching for the experiences now!).

So many stories are blatantly made up in each Watchtower, made to fit each paragraph . Example, Chantell in France relates..., Paul in Australia says..., with each study you will find at least 4 stories with only the first name quoted because they know they are making it all up. But this has been going on in Christendom a long time, just look at all the Televangelist that will heal you for a donation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAlJRP1W_rU&list=PLAB71C36466B5D487&index=9 -

selfishness, not offering to pay for any rides, no matter how many years people get a ride and never offering to pay for gas . Only when at assembly it is mentioned that you need to help with the cost of transportation they give like it is a gift and they go for another 2 years without paying anything. -

Resolutions at Kingdom Hall
by sieborg inanyhow i got to thinking today about my days in the borg and the resolutions that would intermittently be made in the announcements for co visit expenses, sending a donation to society www fund etc.
my point is that while i was in (almost thirty two years) i never once saw anyone put up their hand to vote against a resolution that the body of elders proposed.
on a couple of occasions i heard a few hushed murmurs but i never saw one person vote against.

kinda like at work the company would ask for a vote to see whether to start at 5 am on the day before a holiday so all can get off early. Most all in my department voted overwhelmingly against coming in early, but the company seemed to win their way all the time. I figure its just the golden rule...the man with the gold makes the rules... -

Christians Know Who God Is
by Loi_241 inmany of us christians have a good question for you to ask, “who is god?” there are more than six scriptures to share with you.
you know the bible itself a true message for all the people on earth.
the bible explains ‘in the beginning god created everything: heaven, earth, animals, people and everything.’ thus, you notice god created humans, adam and eve.

There are so many religions that demand alligence to them only and the JWS isn't the only one. And several of them have been invented in the past 200 years or so. Why did Jehovah wait over 1800 years to finally show up invisibly in a rich printers mind in the Northeast USA and say all the others are false? Extraordinary claims requires extraordinary evidence.

Is reasoning with a JW the answer?
by Saved_JW inwhen i first left the watchtower society, i can remember being very eager to learn new information, especially information which pertained to discrediting the watchtower organization.
i called it "the cage stage" .
this excitement and newfound change in worldview completely rocked my world.

Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797), the famous British writer and feminist (and mother to the author of Frankenstein), included the quotation "Convince a man against his will, He's of the same opinion still." -

UFO's might be real.and what does it mean if they are?
by atomant infor some reason this subject has not received much attention over the years which surprises me.theres many conspiracy theories floating around on the internet and lve done my fair share of due diligence on the matter.the school is still out on this one.l find it very hard to believe humans are the only intelligent beings out there.has anyone on this forum ever seen a ufo or experienced a close encounter?

I enjoy listening to this radio channel when I drive all night just to stay awake and ponder. Conspiracy theories like Jimmy Carter,s alien encounter. He is claimed to have said that if he was elected president, he would reveal all the UFO secrets, but after he was elected, with tears in his eyes, he said if he were to reveal the truth, it would end religion as we know it. Maybe the Pope,s position was started by aliens, etc...

Are the Governing Baboons master manipulators or are they just doing their job?
by atomant inld love to be a fly on the wall when the gb have a round the table conference.l can only imagine .l wonder which one came up with the idea of the overlapping generation and how the others reacted to it.the light was shining brightly that day.

An Analogy I think of is when you get an invitation to go get a nice gift, but you have to listen to a timeshare pitch. You say to your partner, were only here to get the free gift, but as you listen to the BS, you get sucked into the half truths they are spouting and buy into the timeshare. Later on, you wake up and realize you've been had. Good thing they give you a 3 day recension period to back out. -

Wt "study" Participation, is it a "True Believer" Indication?-- or not?
by prologos inin our congregation, the elders rarely comment.
the majority rarely comment, 2 sisters, vehemently, and often comment.
since in their case, it can not possibly be" teaching in the congregation", is participation in the wt "study"in general an affirmation of faith?

there is one sister who holds her hand up all the time and sometimes waves. It seems they try not to call on her cause she talks forever. Also she stands at the beginning of the meeting till the song begins and then waves her arms likes she is conducting the song from the stage and is loud. Annoying...was there ever an article about limiting the amount of time to raise your hand?
