More funny incident sunday 25th. someone behind us phone went off right during a very silent period and could not locate it quick enuf to shut it off. It was playing 'Here comes santa clause, santa clause, coming down santa clause way.... for at least 40 minutes. It was hilarious, a lot of snickering going on.

Sisters running microphones?
by NikL inso our sunday meeting was on the 25th (christmas) and my active jw wife and i were out of town enjoying some family time with relatives.. apparently there were many others in our congregation that missed as well.
so few were there in fact that sisters ran the mics.
(actually it was a sister running one of the two mics) a friend of my wife commented to her about how the brothers just aren't stepping up and it "makes her want to cry.

it's in my head and in my opinion it was one of the few songs i really liked..

When I first saw a songbook, I was looking thru it for songs like "amazing grace" or "bringing in the sheaves" which most all major religions have in their songbook, but when I didn't find anything familiar, I knew something was not quite rite here. I should have got up and run at that point...

Noah a Preacher of Righteousness?
by Spoletta induring the watchtower study today, i browsed genesis and looked for evidence of noah ever preaching to anyone.
from what i could glean from the scriptures, it was a foregone conclusion that noah's family would be it on the ark.
(unless they towed some rafts behind) my wife says that building the ark could be considered a witness of his faith to the wicked world, but that seems kind of lame to me.. so, should i just assume that god decided not to give anyone else a chance for redemption?

"Just have faith in Jehovah..."
by evilApostate ini recently spoke to an old friend of mine who is still under the clutches of the watchtower.
a while back, i had told him about all the child sex abuse coverups, false prophecies, false doctrines etc.
he was really shocked and surprised.

What's Expected in Field Service?
by Cold Steel indo all potential converts have to take part in field service before baptism?
and do new members generally try to bring in their friends and family or do they generally keep their religion to themselves?
what do pioneers do if they're going door to door and chance on someone they know or work with in their personal lives?

take brochures with you when you grocery shop, so when you see a likely dub, you can count the whole trip.

Armageddon
by finnrot inwith these new disasters going on around the world, i would imagine that the jw's are going ape shit with the thought of death and destruction right around the corner.
i was smart enough to leave this cult after 1975 came and went with a whimper.
i was in my teens at the time and i vividly remember to this day the excitement all the witlesses had with the knowledge that '75 was going to be the year of armageddon!!!

Well, nothing has changed in 6 years, just watching the atrocities in Syria on 60 minutes on CBS, digging children out from rubble, remarked to my still in spouse about the horror these children are going thru and need help, looked up from texting about Jehobra and serve us dates about who would bring the barf cart, says what show is that? Good grief, they will never see the true picture of the world.

Lately i bring up 1914 and ask them to kindly explain it in a simple way. conversation changes quickly to something like "waste on Jehovah" or did they say wait..

The Story of My Sister - Lurkers: Is this logical?
by Funchback inmy sister got baptized at 17 or 18 years old in 1983. she was ripe for the jw picking as she was shy, quiet, naive and with low self-esteem even though she was tall and beautiful and she attended one of the best high schools in philadelphia.. she wasn't outgoing and she only went out on a couple of dates prior to her baptism.
she worked at a day care center.
she loved children and animals.

Your sister got Da,d for going to one of the forbidden places...apply the same rules to the org and they need to Da themselves for mingling with the UN. All were told not to touch the unclean thing, but in hiding the org was having relations with the UN. Perfect case for Da on themselves. "Do as I say, not as I do"
