TR,
I wouldn't let anyone twang my G string like that. Go and see her
and hit her with your guitar.

File lawsuit or not?
by TR inwhen i moved my family after leaving the jehoagies schmitnesses, i changed my phone number, and made sure it was unlisted.
little did i know that i would soon be receiving a call out of the blue from a jw.. now, this was a woman that i had worked with at one time and we were pretty good friends, so a few years later, when she called, i was kind of glad to hear from her.
the problem was, how did she get my phone number.

I want my hair back!
by LovesDubs in...yep, the presiding overseer of our congregation when i was a mere study, said that when the new system is here, the first thing he wants jehovah to do is give him his hair back!
lol!
i thought, dang, is that the only reason you continue to do this garbage?

LoveDubs,
Joining the Tower to earn back a full head of hair from God sounds
like perfectly reasonable. I can't get God to return my calls so I am
looking for another angle. I don't want my hair back -
I want yours - it's in better condition. What do I have to join? -

Greetings from the Newbie
by Yerusalyim ingreetings one and all, many of you will know me from rick's board, for those of you who don't here's a bit about me.
my association with the society is through my wife.
when we married she was an inactive memeber (she had disassociated herself over guilt from her divorce), after marrying me, she became active again and was reinstated.

Hello Yerusalyim,
Is that a name or a spelling test?
Welcome - any friend of Fred is friend of mine. Are you as funny as him?
I've hear of multi-religious cultures but multi-religious families, that sounds
complicated. I hope it all works out. -

Thirty Years a Watch Tower Slave
by JAVA inperhaps the first widely distributed book written by a former witness about the watchtower society is, thirty years a watch tower slave by william j. schnell, baker book house, grand rapids, mi, 1956. its been out of print for several years, and very few libraries still have the book.
schnell was born in 1905, and was part of the watchtower movement from 1921 to 1954. .
in part, the foreword reads: by the lords grace i am a christian.

Thanks for reminding me Java,
The 'WT Slave' book was the only book I read before jumping from the Tower.
I remember sneaking into a library ten years before leaving to secretly take a
peep into the mind of an evil slave. Of course I scrubbed my hands afterwards!
I now have a copy of the book and keep it under my pillow to ward off Witnesses.
It was one of the first of its kind and that reminds mw of one of the versus from
a poem I wrote:
The lark who's song is best,
Is he who sang before the rest.
Yes! Others sang in better tune,
But he was first and all alone,
And his song broke the Dawn.Sorry about that - it's one of those days ya know. By the way what happend to
your photo - you haven't really grown horns have you! -

Long Intro From A Long Timer
by hillary_step ini am a new to posting on this board though i have been actively reading your posts the past while and i thank some of you for the interesting viewpoints that you have verbalized and that i have enjoyed thinking on.
i am still an active jw, in fact an elder of 20 years standing hence my need to limit information about my personal circumstances.
i have served in a number of countries in europe as a pioneer and elder over the past three decades.

Lone wolf,
What you are suggesting is that those in charge practice deception and deceit to maintain their positions. However noble the motive, it amounts to falsehood. Such action is unchristian. These are not the qualities that gained them their appointments. People have to right to expect that those that stand before them and represent their organization do actually endorse the policies and beliefs that they claim to. If they don't then they are living a lie.
Genuine difficulties that can exist in religious organizations, causing the members to be torn between loyalty to God and their beliefs and loyalty to the organisation indicates that a human organization is not needed to worship God. The words spirit and truth come to mind.
You say ' far be it for me to judge' referring to yourself. Yet if you became aware of such a degree of dishonesty among those who claim to be examples of truthful living, your record shows that you would be quick to judge and say something like' I'm disgusted with the bunch do you'

Why some stays inside the JW
by beroea ini was posting a little on the old h2o but have taking a break before going to this new room only watching for a while.
im still an active jw and elder here in europe - a long way from you in the usa and also another culture even inside the jw.
i think we in europe as jws are thinking a little different from the jws in the u.s. we dont put religious authorities as high as i think you do.

Beroea,
You have recieved some very kind and encouraging remarks here
which make my earlier comment seem harsh. The problem is that
you are not just a Witness but an elder - a leader. People look to
you and respect you. They believe that it must be the truth because
you stand before them and tell them that it is.Young people are making important decisions right now and you are the
one they look up to. Every time you you stand before them and give a
'talk' you are telling them a lie. They think you believe what you say and
hope to be like you. It is becauce elders like you continue to pretend and
keep a foot in both camps that so many have been mislead. To win my respect you will have to stand up and be counted.

Choices we have, choices we make....

Sunchild,
Life is fair. You get back what you put in, if other people such as
your parents put in a lot on your behalf then there is usually a price
to pay. You should leave home and play the game on your own for
a while - there is simply no subtitute for the university of life.I hope you keep on asking questions and demanding answers. When
people who claim to know, give you answers that don't add up or refuse
to answer you, then you know it time to move on. -

For Hillary_Step: Passive vs Active
by COMF inhello, step.
as the original thread has taken on a life of its own, i'm moving our discussion to a separate one.. so you first accuse me of being someone i am not.
note that there is no question mark after your statement.. comf: "you're 'friend', aren't you.".
