i have a new line of thought that i am applying to myself.
i emphasize that, because it may or may not be relevant to others.. i am making a strong attempt to stop blaming the wts for the things i missed out on.
i am finding it much more empowering to say, "i decided not to go to college.

i'm 18 and my boyfriend is 16 and an active jw.i'm a baptist and very stong in my belief and love of god.my boyfriend and i haven't been together that long but were very serious and plan on getting married (when the time is right).we both know that we have no intentions of raising our children jw but as baptist and he tells me that he wants to get out of jw but right now its very hard for him because he still lives with his parents and his mother and oldest sister are very active jw.and i understand all that its just that because i love him so much i want to understand about his life and the way he was raised and what he was raised to believe but hes made it very clear that he doesnt want to explain it or talk about it hes told me some stuff but very little.i'm just wondering about their beliefs and what the jw's have to say about us dating and just any information anyone can provide!!!

i'm an unbaptised publisher at the moment and next month i'm thinking of doing the amount of hours that a pioneer does.
do you lot reckon it would be worthwhile for me to do it?
or should it stick with the usual 5 hours a month?

the wts has often implied that their form of missionary work, concentrating on "preaching and teaching", is superior to that of christendom's.
christendom often starts out by bringing food supplies, hospitals and the like, supposedly "enticing" the natives with material goodies.

I can clear this up. Every Sunday my local pub leaves little pieces of cheese on the bar for the locals. A sort of treat for the regulars to give the place a 'we will look after you becauce you're in our club feeling.'
I passed this useful tip on to the Bethel Boppers who were very taken with the Biblical principles involved. The WT president himself became involved and even visited my pub diguised as a shepherd, to check out the club maintenance idea.
The idea was worked on and went global. All say cheese.
look at the picture in the june 1, 1993 wt.
jesus is carrying a pole up the hill to golgatha that he is going to be crucified on.
jesus has a crown of thorns and is wearing only a towel around his waist.. now the wt decided to use this picture again in the january 1,2001 wt.. notice the changes.
Jesus must be fully clothed so as not to excite the strange people that read The Watchtower magazine. Either that or it is to avoid frightening the children and horses.

those pesky "expiring subscription" slips have reached me.. how many think it's beneficial to have a subscription, just to keep tabs on what's going on in the wt world?

The way around this dilema is to renew the subscription but write clearly in the top right hand corner 'To be used for apostate.'

imho, there is no ad hominem worse, no ad hominem more denigrating, and no ad hominem more evil than the expression "get a life!".
i've used it myself in the past.
it's a quick and down-and-dirty put down.
Get a Life - cannot refer to life in this wicked old system but life in the New World. At the end of the thousand years real life will be given to all faithful Witnesses. It is then that they will 'get a life.' If you are luck enough to belong to the elite class of Witnesses you can by-pass the thousand years and go straight to heaven, no waiting. Those select few get immortality thrown in and a glass of wine at the memorial. Sounds tempting!
Makes complete sense, doesn't it? It's easy when you have a spirit annointed mouthpiece to explain.

when i first posted on this site, there were, i think, around 300 registered users.
now the number of registered users is about to reach 1000 in the very near future.
over on h20 the numbers have decreased, but the community owner, rick, appears to be mesmerised by the idea that it is still much bigger, and biggest is best, as this excerpt from a recent post shows:.

You should stop doubting it is a sin in the eyes of witnesses. Stand by your beliefs. Get out there and pioneer and don't let anything fleshy get in the way!

i can understand your wanting to help present jws and those looking for info on the organisation, but this is not the place for posting reams and reams of info.
most of us here know already this stuff.

I like to think of this place as a bar - that way I feel at home. I find the brawls entertaining, the rows fun and welcome all that enter. On the other hand we don't want the place crowded with lager louts and trouble makers.
