  as of 6:02 pm last night i received a facsimile from paul hoeffel at the un on the wts.. he gave me 3 of the 4 things i requested in two paragraphs.. i have sent a scanned version to steve bates and someone else.. i sent it to kent and randy.

  and kent and randy have posted the official united nations letter on their web sites.. here is the letter - put your cursor on the image and then right click on your mouse and hit "save image" to your computer.. .

  after you look at kent's web site and you people still think this it is a fake letter, phone paul hoeffel yourself at (212) 963-8070.. hawk

  I wonder if Gillies is even aware of the Gdn Weekly story which contains explicit quotations from Hoeffel's letter? He only refers to the two Gdn articles. The Weekly isn't that widely read in the UK and he must have composed the letter over the weekend, slow thinker that he is. Unless you subscribe to the Weekly it's hard to find out what's in it. If Gillies is not aware, then, maybe he should be told of the Gdn Weekly's story - with a cc: to Hoeffel of course at [email protected].   100 Good Samaritans needed

  two of this board's, and h2o's before it,long time and well known participants have fallen on desperately hard times.

  if they could set up pay pal accounts and enough of us could contribute say $20 - $50 per month it would help them though their hardship.. these two people have helped many escape from the wts and i know for sure have given money and other material help to those in need, even when they could not afford it.. if you can help, send an email to: [email protected].

  you need not include any particulars of who you are etc, just an indication that you could support this and how much you could send.

  Nada here either. $170 a month split in some way between Farkel and Max is not going to do much. With over 3000 registered posters I think we can do better. Of course, many may want to operate independently. But still, I'm disappointed in the level of support.

  Let's put it in context, as NPR might do; a coke a day for a month is about $20.00. Those who have already offered help are themselves, in most cases, very needy and yet are giving out of their need, not their excess. Their stories, as I receive them are amazing. A young college student in the Phillipines has offered to help; single mothers who are working three jobs.

  A Note From Maximus To You All

  many of you have wondered where maximus has been the past while and i would like, with his permission, to fill you in on a few details that will shed a light his recent sabbatical.. maximus and others have been working for some while on his book which i can assure you will bring some very interesting information regarding wts issues into the public arena.

  without giving too much away, the book will be unique in the sense that it will embody theology with personal experience and present a helping hand through the process of challenging wts theology in a practical way, to establishing a meaningful and fulfilling life after the wts, if a person so chooses to walk this path.

  many who know maximus personally will validate the fact that he has a vast fund of knowledge and experience of wts life and that he wishes to use this to heal rather than to further enflame.. the book which is still in its embryonic phase, will be the first of a number of projects developed by a new publishing company to aid those who are undergoing crisis in their lives, whether theologically or emotionally.

  The Watchtower (1957) 5/1 pp. 285-6 Use Theocratic War Strategy.
  Perhaps some will wonder as to where the line is to be drawn between use of theocratic war strategy in hiding the truth and the telling of lies. First of all, let it be noted that whenever one takes an oath to tell the truth he is obligated to do so. By dedicating himself to do God's will each Christian has taken a vow or made an oath to do God's will and to be faithful to him. To this oath he certainly must be true. Likewise, when a Christian is placed on a witness stand he is obligated to speak the truth if he speaks at all. At times he may prefer to refuse to speak and suffer the consequences rather than betray his brothers or the interests of God's work. And, of course, there is no occasion for use of war strategy when dealing with our Christian brothers. In dealing with them we tell the truth or tactfully remind them that what they seek to know does not concern them.
  Lies are untruths told for selfish reasons and which work injury to others. Satan told a lie to Eve that worked great harm to her and all the human race. Ananias and Sapphira told lies for selfish reasons. But hiding the truth, which he is not entitled to know, from an enemy does not harm him, especially when he would use such information to harm others who are innocent.
  A great work is being done by the witnesses even in lands where their activity is banned. The only way they can fulfill the command to preach the good news of God's kingdom is by use of theocratic war strategy. By underground methods the literature is brought into the country and distributed. Would it make sense to hide this literature by one's actions and then reveal its whereabouts by one's words when queried? Of course not! So in time of spiritual warfare it is proper to misdirect the enemy by hiding the truth. It is done unselfishly; it does not harm anyone; on the contrary, it does much good.
  Today God's servants are engaged in a warfare, a spiritual, theocratic warfare, a warfare ordered by God against wicked spirit forces and against false teachings. God's servants are sent forth as sheep among wolves and therefore need to exercise the extreme caution of serpents so as to protect properly the interests of God's kingdom committed to them. At all times they must be very careful not to divulge any information to the enemy that he could use to hamper the preaching work.

  Gillies is certainly no expert at PR. He's in a tough job, of course, but let's hope that he gets squashed between the press and his handlers in Brooklyn. The man looks like a right idiot.

  ps: I've never considered myself a social activist till lately, but how about this; we CC all our emails to the Hoeffel at the UN to Gillies and vice versa? It might also be an idea to CC them to the UN Commisioner on Human Rights. Be sure to include links to the Guardian articles, and esp the Gdn Weekly.

  I like the bank account idea. Another approach although probably not recommended would simply be to mail cash directly. Most of the amounts are fairly small......

  Let's forget the pay pal and western union things, yes?

  I will certainly be willing to supply details to everyone if Farkel gets them to me...

  I wish we could get the $ amount up some more though. $40.00 a week isn't much.....
