WATCHTOWER IN A PANIC!

jws are in need of more kingdom halls in many major u.s. cities.

at this years agm where it is expected that most of the faithful will be able to listen to the meeting (being tied in by video), dont be surprised if the wts 8 gb members take part in a symposium delivering some long winded appeal, petition, plea, proposal, proposition, solicitation or otherwise hit-on the masses for $$$ in order to lighten the burden and overuse that many kingdom halls are experiencing.

an acquaintance from the west coast mentioned to me that in late august thru early september of this year that a number of pow-wows involving close to 5,000 elders from numerous areas (riverside, los angeles, ventura and orange counties) took place to drum up financial support from the 800+ (not sure) congregations in those areas.

i'm only going to the meeting because of my husband!

i was 'in' solo for years while living with my unbelieving family and i know how it feels to be the only one in your house going to the meeting.

i also respect my husband's decision, and know what it's like to have family try to tear down your beliefs.

We are so many in the same situation around the world...

We truly love our family. Our family ready to shun us in one second, after a quick decision of 3 stupid men...

For my part I do my best to avoid suffering to my wife.

But I know how it is hard. You're not alone, keep this in mind during meetings, it helps.

fyi, a zone visit is scheduled in france for sunday, april 21, 2013. .

at bethel : only do, some co, a few bethelites and long time elders will be invited to attend.. in each kh : only elders, ms, and pionneers will have the priviledge to attend the direct live retransmission (each kh is used by several cong).

the rf will have to wait for the mp3 file.... no hierarchy ?

I'm a lurker since a few years. I learned a lot of things on this forum and other websites.

Born in, family deeply involved, I think I now have a clear view. But family is held hostage. My wife cried for days when I decided to stop going to the meetings, so I went back after only one week. But she knows what I think and how I feel.

Sure, I was there for the announcement. Almost sleeping, but awake enough...

My wife understood like me, she was a bit upset about that.

The problem is, in my KH, like in a lot of KH in France, we are 4 congregations and 1 group. It is not possible to gather all the proclaimers during the retransmission.

I know that last time some cong organised an 2nd meeting just after for th R&F. It was not done in mine.

In each KH : only elders, MS, and pionneers will have the priviledge to attend the direct live retransmission (each KH is used by several cong).

Sorry, the letter was not on the board, and I did not take any risk by asking for it. I'm already looked suspicious (lost privileges...) after I raised some questions to check some things I read here (was not a good idea....questions of course!). No more information from my part for the moment on this subject. But some other posters from Europe confirmed that same kind of arrangement in their countries (sometimes only for the saving account).

I will try to have more specific information this week (if I must go to the meetings...)

I remember they said that everybody with monthly money transfer to the local bank account must see the accounting attendant (not sure of the name in English) to change the destination. The global account is titled something like (translated from French) "JW Kindom Hall Federation". So it seems that there won't be any local account anymore, although I agree I don't see how it will work for current expenses. Or... maybe the money goes to the global account, but the cong will open an new (and tiny) account to get some "pocket money" for the current expenses.

The explanation was quite the same as Hoffnung shared. But no resolution was adopted, it was just an announcement (but maybe the official representatives of the legal association will sign a resolution in private).

I agree that it may be a precaution due to the situation in France. For the same reasons, some years ago, they decided to move a lot of facilities to London or Germany.

The letter did not give a lot of details on how it will work. But it is starting very quickly, at the beginning of 2013. I don't know if it was planned months before, but it was a surprise for a lot of attendees (according to their faces).

If the letter is on the board, I will try to take a picture with my smartphone. I understand your doubts, no problem, it is my 1st post.

Last week, at Tuesday meeting, they read an letter on congregation Bank accounts, and I think this a big change.

In France, each cong is registered as a local association, and the WT has several association countrywide.

Until now, each cong had a specific bank account locally. What you put in the ‘local box’ stay on the cong local bank account. Usually, in France, these bank accounts were in good health. Until the CO comes, audits the bank account, and sometimes asks for a special donation for the branch… Of course, next to this box you have the global box (Mat 24:14).

From now : local accounts must be closed. The money put in the ‘local box’ will be sent to a new global account managed by the branch.

When the local cong will need money, for example to purchase some furniture, the cong will ask the branch. For furniture, it seems that the Branch will purchase the furniture and send it locally. According to the letter, it will spare some money because of high volumes.

Reason for this change : money will be used among the congregations, the richest cong will support the poorest. But at the same time, the letter said that each congregation will get the amount of money corresponding to its donations. Don’t worry, your money is still here for you…

Reactions: silence, some astonished faces, and back to sleep. Of course not a word on this new arrangement after the meeting.

I don’t know if this new arrangement was already done in other countries or if France is a test…
