  How to tell family why you are no longer attending meetings?

  so it has been over a month, maybe closer to two that i haven't attended a meeting.

  my stress level has gone way down, and my life is pretty good right now.

  well as you know, there are tons of nosy witnessess.

  El Guapo, I have no idea how old you are or how old your parents are. If you are born in or not.

  I am asking because If your parents "lived" thru the nightmare The Watch Tower Society put us through in 1975 and or, you were raised with that rubbish = you have stress, and they should understand because honestly, they have to feel that stress too.

  I am born in, everyone one in my family is a regular pioneer. I never was, nor wanted to be a pioneer. My dad (elder) asked me about a year ago why I kept telling the elders in my cong. that I didn't want to be named an elder. I said that the Judicial committe arrangement is a deal-breaker for me. Who am I to judge any one of my brothers and sisters??? That's Jesus' job, and no one could ever do it any better. Especially not an imperfect man like me.

  So it has been over a month, maybe closer to two that I haven't attended a meeting. My stress level has gone WAY down, and my life is pretty good right now. Well as you know, there are TONS of nosy witnessess. I live with my wife on the East Coast my entire family lives in California yet somehow I got an email yesterday from my mom asking why we stopped going to meetings. REALLY? I know it's our decision, but still it's my mom and I love her, just not sure how to tell her why I'm not going. I can't tell her about TTATT, my family is uber-zelaous and they would shun me in an instant.

  Any ideas???

  Hi Guys,

  I was going through some old threads (love this site) and I came across someone mentioning in a post that this site started as gathering place for JW's and somehow became an "apostate" site. LOL (hate that word)

  I think that is so awesome, the info that I have learned on this site, jwfacts, and jwstruggle have been essential in my doubting/fading from the Watchtower.

  Can anyone clue me in on how the "tide turned" to make JWN what is today?

  Double standards for elders?

  i read a post on this site that said that there is a double standard for elders as opposed to regular r&f publishers.

  can't seem to find it now, but i believe it was in the elders manual stating this....... thinking back, i can vividly remember one instance: the po's (a superstar in the district) daughter was getting married.

  she was marrying a "brother" who was only baptized but 3 months, yet the were able to use the hall for their wedding.. another brother in our hall (about 2 years later) was planning on getting married, he asked for permission to use the hall for his wedding and was told that his service hours were too low (he was averaging about 3-5 hours a month) i asked him later why he was so pissed at the elders and he said this was the reason.. has anyone else ever noticed this "double-standard"?.

  Thanks guys (and gals) for the help!

  I just decided to quit cold-turkey. I felt like I couldn't stand another meeting with all the crap that was being spewed as "bible-based" but several of you guys made a good point, now it looks like a secret sin because I avoid them. I need to come up with a good excuse of why I've stop going looks like it will be either health or WTS protecting predetors. I'm going to text an elder to see if we can meet (when the CO isn't here)

  I work till 6:30pm, and it's just my wife and I.

  She's been really supportive, she doesn't agree with my fade but said "that's your deal" and has not bugged me about it.

  She asked what to do if the elders wanted to talk to her, I said to tell them to talk to MISTER El Guapo, they have to respect my headship.

  She said that she been asked "What's my deal" and she's told them that I was going to some tough times. They answered "we've been trying to get in touch with him, but he refused to talk to us Why is that, sister???"

  What's going on with your hubby????

  So the elders, have been hounding me non-stop, now.

  Calling or texing me at least once a day. I have read that it's best not to explain doubts to them, but I'm not sure how to shake them. I've told them it's between Jehovah and me and my diabetes has been acting up. I don't want to be rude about it, but they knocked on my door both Saturday and Sunday. (I didn't open the door) but man, these guys aren't getting the hint.

  On Sunday, they left a note that said they will be coming with C.O. next week (please call us to let us know when is a good time to visit)

  I know someone might say, just tell them off! But ALL of my fam is in the Org, I'm looking for a peaceful (If possibe) way to get my point across that I want to be left alone.

  I'm sure alot of you have noticed, the influx of new JWN members with "postitions within the cong" This is amazing, I myself am still an M.S. working to get removed. LOL My wife (who has been really supportive throughout my fade) asked my why I am doing I decided to fade?

  And it got me thinking,

  Could it be that "We" see things first-hand that the R&F don't see? (This was my response, the lack of love, favoritism, etc.)

  To me it still blows me away everytime I see a post from active/former elders,

  I don't mean to discriminate to the other brothers and sisters, but surely they must be see that someting obviously is wrong with the BORG if men who should be "examples for the cong." are looking for solid bible-based answers/or just trying to get out.
