This is a statement made by a loyal JW about her feelings on the whole NGO thing. This is a direct quote (it shows how twisted they are and how they are willing to be loyal to the organization):

"I understand how you feel, however, the UN makes its information available to the public because they want people informed about what they do. Therefore, the Society merely takes advantage of the "free" public information and uses it in their publications to keep us informed as to how this plays out regarding Bible prophecies. But, they aren't a part of the wild beast and would have no direct dealings with her because they're not signed up to be a part of the charter other religions and groups sign on to be a part of. I know if seems difficult to understand, but trust Jehovah that he knows what he's doing and "no one can check his hand." Maybe some
things won't be explained fully to us in this system, but if we put our faith in him, he'll handle the rest. The point is that no other religous organization on this earth are doing what we do on a global basis and have insight into Bible prophecy understanding as clearly as what we do. I would think this issue of receiving public information would be relatively minor in comparision to the that the faithful & descreet slave class has been dead on in receiving holy spirit to be able to understand and decipher information to us. And true enough, there have been instances so minor in being off on something, but yet as spiritual light has been shed corrections have been made and honesty about them exists. You tell me what other religious organization or governmental organization can say that? We
will continue to be tested in our faith as we are deep in this time of the end and it will take a lot of strenth & courage to turn away from false reasonings and what the scripture says about in the last days there will be those who will actually leave the faith due to doubt. Don't doubt, BELIEVE! I have never believed so much before as I do know in seeing world events unfold before out eyes."

how did you get to the site for International Federation of Religious and Philosophical Minotories?? or where does it show WTBS is a member? That's pretty big too.

Now, do you know for sure those 2 guys (1 in the writing department and 1 of the governmening body) signed the applications? I want to "hit" my mother and sister with the information.

Avengers,

The best way is to use the sample given early in this topic. It basically suggested you start out by asking "did you know that the UN has both national (governmental) and non-government members. They will probably answer No. Then take them to the UN web site or if they don't have access to a computer, tell them that the WBTS is listed as an NGO of the DPI which is a member of the UN and that in order to be an NGO you have to make application and initiate the process and you have to "promote the UN".

That's how I started off with my mother. Of course, like I said, she tried to use the apostate thing but I told her I got the information from the UN itself, not apostate literature and then I agreed to call the Society and I did. They're still doing research as to how the application was completed and how it was initiated.

Hawk,

One of my other sisters who is inactive and doesn't go to the meetings, was at my mother's house and she walked in when my mother and another sister were talking about it (the UN thing). They had some things highlighted on the paper that she printed from the UN's web address. They scrambled to hide it from my inactive sister so she wouldn't see it. But, she also knows all about it and knew what they were up to. They did not tell her anything about it.

Also, I plan to keep the things you said in mind above. But, it was "funny" how immediately they said the information I was giving them was apostate and that I sounded apostate. I told them the definitition of apostate is going against God's own word the Bible. They said it's going against the Society. They have very sick minds right now. But, their brains are starting to think now and hopefully wake up.

But you should hear my sister and mother putting up the defenses. Even if this were true, they say, there's nothing wrong with signing up with the DPI in order to get the "good news" out. But I constanly remind them that in doing so, they would have had to sign an application and agree to "promote the UN". That didn't seem (over the phone) to bother them. But, maybe it will start bothering them in private.

One thought, if you can get any one out there to ask God for the truth and to reveal it to you, then that leaves it open for Him to do just that, including exposing any corruptness of any religion where they are not teaching the truth.

JWs would never admit that the UN is turning on them as a false religion. My mother who is a loyal JW, even tried to support the Society's defense (without them even having one right now) and say that the disgusting thing right now is the flag. I just wanted to scream right then but I maintained my composure and just reminded her that the Society has always indicated the disgusting thing is the UN. Then she reminded me about new light about the King of the North and the King of the South. That they always thought the yet to appear King of the North, was always thought to be Russia. That was nixed in the Daniel book and now they say they have to wait and see; that it will be a government they least expect. They also prophesy that the UN will turn on Jehovah's "true servants" but they won't get away with it and will be destroyed. But remember now, if I remember correct from the 2 studies in the Revelation book, first the governments (prodded by the UN) turn on false religion, then on true worshipers then they (the governments) will be destroyed immediately by Jesus.

So, it's kind of hard right now to even talk with some of them because they are very, very loyal to the Organization and they are SCARED. I only pray, every day to God, that the sincere JWs who want to know the real truth, will ask for it and will find it. I constantly pray this of my fleshly family.

Thanks for the upbuilding comments. I have the brother's name that I spoke with but I did not want to publish it because he sounded like he REALLY did not know. Actually, I felt really bad for him. Also, one more tid bit of info. The first time I called him, he informed me that a reporter had called him last week about the same thing and he told the reporter he did not know the answer (regarding being an NGO). So, the wheels are turning. This young brother asked me for my name, area, congregation, etc. but I did not give it to him. I'm all about the truth. The real truth in the Bible. Not someone's made up "truth" that they tell you in a magazine and perpetrate it to be directly from Jehovah and Jesus, as my mother insists.

Just FYI, I called the Society in New York. Spoke with a young brother in the Public Information department and I asked him about this yesterday. I was forced to do this by my family because they accused me of getting apostate information. I asked them would they listen if I called the Society. My mother said she wanted it to come from them and that even if it is true, she's not doing anything unless told by the Society because she is loyal to the organization. Anyway, when I talked with the young brother, he asked me for the web address and had a computer right in front of him. I walked him through to the DPI/NGO Directory from the very beginning of the UN Website. So, he saw it for himself. He said that he did not know they were listed there but he did admit the WTBTS is an NGO of other entities. He was SHOCKED. He told me I could call him back in the morning. I called him back this morning (10/02/01) he told me they were still researching this matter because they wanted to "look into how the application was filled out and how it was initiated". He said they would never have initiated such a thing.
