It's not so much what was written but what was done with what was written that has caused billions of lives to be affected.

i really like the example you provided with Ian Flemming. I'm sure there were many other writings of the period that were not preserved because they did not harmonize with there particular theology or motives.
Same thing happened with the New Testament when deciding what books to cannonize and which ones to leave out.

exactly what hat I see as well. It helped them maintain there worldview. Even the so allied judgements were to take them back to their roots and core beliefs.

and it seems that "inspired" scripture was not specific enough because as many interpretations can be had by an equal amount of readers. But once their convinced it's hard to have a logical conversation.

Any author writing a contemporary book would likely flop if he did the same.
I disagree. Look at political authors who openly criticize the American people of today while strongly
supporting there viewpoint of what the founding fathers meant when writing the constitution. It will
rally the people who agree with the message. the same holds true with the bible.
