Watchtower encouraging members to go and preach in Israel

an odd letter was read at last nights' meeting.

it was in regards to a special campaign for next year arranged by the governing body to go and preach in israel.

the call is going out to anybody that speaks hebrew and english.

i can hardly believe that anything new is gonna be announced at the annual meeting.

i mean, there is absolutely no one i know in this organization capable of keeping a secret and we haven't heard anything but "big changes are coming" "just wait and see" "big things are in the works" and my personal favorite posted by one of our members who was told not to diassociate because "things are gonna be announced that will change your mind".. no one i know at the hall or in positions of responsibilty has ever been able to keep anything confidential.

it's always been like the character on in lving color, "i aint one to gossip...but you didn't hear that from me.".

just got an email from elder sharing illustration from assembly.

the holy spirit does not seem to be in control as it supposedly was in the 1st century.

it's just lube now.

It seems like the Holy Spirit ( crap did I just capitalize that) would be more like the GPS navigator in your car Rather than an oily additive.

The only time you think about steering fluid about steering fluid is when there is a problem. Whereas the GPS gets attention and appreciated every single day.

Power steering fluid is only only to make steering easier. So that's all the powerful HS is good for now? Making their pathetic lives easier?

I Can remember a time that I would have been just as eager to share this delightful illustration with someone else. Trying to be encouraging and greasing their head with power steering fluid. Barf

Attention Governing Body: October 2, 2014 is only 940 days away...

in 1823, john aquila brown (a man who is not mentioned in any wt publication) came up with a bizarre mathematical calculation which totalled 2,520 years (in an unauthorized attempt to predict the end of the gentile times).... several religions recycled this bizarre calculation, including the adventists and the bible students... when armageddon didn't come on the variety of early 20th century dates predicted by several "dooms-day" religions of that time (including charles taze russell's bible students who predicted that the big a would start in 1914), they all finally realized that this 2,520-year calculation was nothing more than arbitrary mathematical speculation derived from erratic biblical extrapolation.... except for the bible students who continued to move up the date for armageddon 2 more times (1918, 1925) and then decided to use wwi as the starting point for the "last days".. all the while, one thing that seems to remain intact is the october 2, 1914 date.

oddly, for the watchtower bible & tract publishing cult, this particular date still marks the end of the 2,520-year period (that john aquila brown referred to in his bizarre 1823 book "the even tide")... again, no mention of this in any watchtower publication.

but, for jws, that date still remains the starting point for the period of time often referred to as the "last days" or even "the generation that shall not pass".. because of this, the governing body has been forced to change the definition of "the generation that shall not pass" countless times since the early 1970's.

Hi XXXXX, Just wanted to share an illustration with you that was presented at our assembly; help from Jehovah through holy spirit is like power steering in our car. It doesn't drive the car but it helps steer. So too holy spirit does not drive our lives, we do, but it will help. The text and comments for today are an excellent reminder.
