Need the hardest evidence possible that humans have lived for more than 6000 years
by ILoveTTATT2 insince coming out of the witnesses, i have gone through a transformation in thought and in mind.
i started with the usual: i thought that jesus was god.
then i investigated more about the bible and thought that the bible was not true, given the many contradictions, failed prophecies, etc.. then i investigated evolution and read lots and now i accept evolution and natural selection as things that are true.. now, i need to make my dad rethink everything.

An answer to creationist's attacks on c-14 dating:
http://ncse.com/cej/3/2/answers-to-creationist-attacks-carbon-14-datingYes you can try to shoot down their pathetic excuses for ignoring C-14 dating, but they always tend to retreat to the excuse of: "Satan altered it to test us" or "God-magic changed everything".
Really you have to point out that there are many many reliable corroborating methods of archaeological dating. If someone is willing to dismiss so many multiple lines of evidence under the excuse of "God-magic", then they are beyond reasoning and it means God is playing a total game with us.

This review demonstrates the value in seeing the number of attendances over several successive years.
Yes - I think it's pretty well established that the day of the week makes a big difference to the numbers. Memorials on or around the weekend will usually get a bigger attendance.

Regional Convention in Scotland
by The Searcher inwalking towards my seat after lunch, i made eye-contact with a j.w.
male walking towards me.
as we were passing, he smiled and said 'hello', so i replied with, 'hello'.. well, if a member of the g.b.

Did you also notice that sister giving her exprience who was a part-time radiologist at the hospital? Apparently all her "worldly" co-workers are shagging each other. WTF?
You've got to be kidding! That was the EXACT SAME experience given at the con-vention I was at in the central United States! That's very interesting, though not really surprising.

Whoa whoa - did anyone else here this Sunday afternoon notice that they totally didn't have the financial statement read out? Has anyone noticed that at their convention?
8,500+ in attendance with 39 baptised by the way.

How to spot: a single JW sister
by purrpurr ini remember this time of year when jw's desend en mass on one area.
a fun game to play is "spot the..." whatever jw walking stereotype you choose.. so i thought i would play it with you guys, starting with how to spot a single jw sister.. i say, she will be dressed up to the nines, probably over dressed in fact, have hair immaculately coffied, make up plastered on, towering heels and be smiling at every brother in site.
all they need is a sign saying "pioneer, virgin, available for marriage!".

To be fair, nowadays they do make an annoncement at the UK conventions every morning to keep your children with you at all times. But yes it certainly wasn't always that way.

There really were some awful parts today and it was still too damn hot.
That part where the young brother was encouraging his friend was just cringe-worthy.
Did you also notice that sister giving her exprience who was a part-time radiologist at the hospital? Apparently all her "worldly" co-workers are shagging each other. WTF?

Scottish Convention Revelation!
by The Searcher insome circuit overseer gave a talk and made this statement - "jehovah will very soon resurrect millions of people.....".
"soon" is so old hat now - "very soon" will become the new buzz words in j.w.-land..

I didn't think it could get any more boring than yesterday but it did.
That bit about elders not being like Pharisees and more like Jesus was a good laugh. Remind me who is holding the judicial committees again?

Haha I totally know what ypu mean notsurewheretogo - I'm trying my hardest to leave and much happier.
That talk made it seem like becoming inactive is just something people do accidentally though, like: "oops, I'm inactive!"
There was that (probabably made-up) experience of the sister who actually made some real friends at work and went horse riding instead of the meetings. I was thinking: "that soinds like fun!"
It really does seem like the most boring convention though, despite their attempts to shoe-horn a video into every talk, like: "oh that bible mentions birds here - lets have a few minutes of stock footage of birds in case you don't know what they look like."
I don't know how you folks with kids stand it in the heat of that auditorium though - I have to go wander outside.
