BBC news: Venice votes on splitting from Rome
Voting has begun in Venice and the surrounding region on whether to break away from Italy.
Recent opinion polls suggest that two-thirds of the four million electorate favour splitting from Rome, but the vote will not be legally binding. The online poll was organised by local activists and parties, who want a future state called Republic of Veneto.
This would be reminiscent of the sovereign Venetian republic that existed for more than 1,000 years.
A focal point for culture, architecture and trade, Venice lost its independence to Napoleon in 1797.
Online voting is due to continue until Friday. The vote received very little coverage in Italy's national media but the organisers said they expected as many as two million people to take part.
The BBC's Alan Johnston in Rome says the vote reflects a growing separatist mood in parts of Europe, such as Spain's Catalonia region and Scotland, which votes on whether to become independent in September.
Moves towards independence often evoke more sympathy in wealthy northern Italy, where many resent what they see as the poorer south's waste and corruption.
Luca Zaia, governor of Veneto, the Venice region, rejected suggestions that the Italian constitution would prevent secession. International law, he told Libero Quotidiano, allowed "the right to self-determination".

I don't think the OP was trying to claim any biblical significance, but there is a few on here who perhaps due to their past as JWs and doing research, have a general interest in archeology and as you can imagine, artifacts coming out of Afghanistan are pretty rare at the moment.
Also it's nice to have some non-JW topics on the forum too to make it more interesting!

Sorry I missed this one - I'm just back from Sydney last week.
There's also a brand new art exhibition at the Sydney Contemporary Art Gallery by Afghanistan/Australian artist Khadim Ali if that's your thing too.

Cool thanks snowbird - I'd be well chuffed if I was something rare - I doubt it though.
I was actually having a discussion with someone from California who runs an animal blood bank, and there is a huge need for animal blood donations too! It never really occurred to me about that.
Apparently some animals have many more blood types than humans too and it can get really difficult finding a rare animal blood type.

Haha but you're with the evil RBS bank like me!
I've always wanted to know - how do I actually find out my blood type?
I can't really ask my parents as they would ask why, and probably wouldn't tell me if they knew why!
I'm in the UK - presumably I can ask my GP doctor?

What do you think are the future doctrine changes will be?
by thedepressedsoul inthe whole organization is going through huge and big changes.
it can be seen by names of departments, to how things function and teaches.
my questions to you is, what do you think the future changes will be, both in teaching and organizational matters?.

Interesting that you think power will actually be taken away from congregation elders. The moves recently seem to have been to de-centralise some of the responsibilties that bethel do (perhaps to make local congregations more accountable in lawsuits etc.) I'm thinking of the appointing of pioneers and MS'ses which is now done by elders at congregation level, and the branch is merely "notified".

BOE: Kaboom to DOs
by pixel into all congregations re: district overseers.

Totally agree - this is to fill the lack of CO's. In the few areas where there are enough CO's to go around, DO's will be moved to CO's and CO's will be re-assigned as elders to "stuggling" congregations.

Photography and HDR
by ILoveTTATT inas i have mentioned before, i love photography, and specially a technique called hdr.
hdr stands for high dynamic range, and it means the ratio of the "lightness" of the lightest spot in the picture to the darkest.. .

I agree with a lot of what you say about HDR. Scott Kelby wrote an article a while ago with a similar outlook. Unfortunately, non-photographers like the "Harry Potter" look, but like you I prefer the more natural look where HDR is used to "enhance" an image, not make it unrealistic.

Photomatix is one of my favourite programs for it too. I thought this was a good article on a photoshop HDR technique that allows you to create more natural looking stuff:
