What I have said to JWs in the past, "Good riddance to bad rubbish, I'm glad that people don't associate me with such an awful organization." Now I can also add a bit about protectors of pedos to that phrase.

I got shunned today

because she was a gentle soul, i went up to her and said, 'hello'.
she looked at me and said, 'i'm sorry i cannot talk to you.

@stillin Yes I was a bit late, but to give credit it's due, on the day of my birth I didn't make my grand entrance into the world until 4:30 pm.
I actually had a pretty good birthday. We ended up doing our taxes and got a small refund.

Court overturns $35 million sex abuse verdict against Jehovah's Witnesses
by iwantoutnow inshocking!.
the montana supreme court has unanimously overturned the largest civil verdict against the jehovah's witnesses in u.s. history in a closely-watched case on the requirements of religious leaders to report suspected incidents of child sexual abuse.. the ruling, issued wednesday, erased a $35 million jury verdict to alexis “lexi” nunez, who was abused by a member of the thompson falls, mont, congregation.
elders at the local kingdom hall knew of separate allegations against the man, but did not report those to law enforcement after relying on legal advice from headquarters that clergy in montana are not required to report allegations deemed by religious organizations to be “confidential.”.

Would You Ever Go Back To The Witnesses??
by minimus inevery once in a while you hear people say they actually “miss” their old witness friends and or family.
some would have even stayed in the organization if they became a bit more liberal and open minded.

Were You Willing To Die For Jehovah?
by minimus inwe were supposed to be dedicated unconditionally to jehovah god.
we were willing to be persecuted to the death if need be.
if it came to taking a blood transfusion or dying, we were loyal to jehovah and would be a martyr for god.

I just received some news this evening about my mother in law. She has been dealing with cancer and thought that she had made a full recovery. A few months later she learned that she is going to have to go through some more treatments because either they didn't get it all, or it has returned. Found out also that she was rushed to the ER because she felt dizzy, fell and hit her head on a dresser. While at the ER the hospital did some testing on her and discovered that she is in serious need of a blood transfusion, her blood count is so low that if she accidentally cuts herself, or causes any type of injury that would result in any type of blood loss, it will kill her. She is supposed to go in for a chemo tomorrow but with this other issue, they can't treat her until her blood count gets into an acceptable range. It looks like the Watchtower will be killing my husband's mother with their no blood policy.

After the death of a spouse, how long did people wait to get remarried?
by RubaDub ini was on the phone with a long-time friend from my original congregation north of new york city and she told me that the 'shit hit the fan' when a brother (long-time elder i know well) got remarried about 6 weeks after his wife died.. he was about 60 and his new wife (a pioneer that i also know) was about 50 and had never been married.. it became a huge issue when the co came.
due to all the talk and chatter in the congregation, he even included in one of his talks without naming names, that marriage is something sacred and that when and how people get married is a personal matter as long as it conforms to bible standards.. anyway, it shut everybody up.
any similar experiences in your current/former congregations?.

That is one thing I don't miss - all the dam chatterboxes who don't know when to shut up and to keep their thoughts to themselves. Something very similar happened to my husband when we were engaged. At the time no one from his congregation with the exception of a couple of people knew who I was. It was so bad with the gossip that he was taken before a couple of his elders to ask if he was dating a "worldly" girl. Once he explained who I was and how we met, let's just say there was a few old nosey biddy bodies who found themselves in the hotseat.
