"Take Me As I Am" (a song by Rumer)
by Rufus T. Firefly ini was deeply touched by a story titled i escaped a cult, and it ruined my life by rachel mirante saavedr which she posted on facebook.
in it she makes the point that, to jws, "love is absolutely conditional.
" it was my experience, too, that the concept of unconditional love is totally rejected by jws, and, thinking back, that may well have been the very first discrepancy i perceived between the christ-like personality and what i observed within the jw culture.

A one sentence reply that could jolt a JW
by HBH inmy mind was wandering last night, and i though of this as a reply to a jw.. "oh, your the people who believe 8 men in brooklyn, ny are directing the world's only true religion.".
the sentence is a fact that they can't deny, but clearly shows delusion.
any other one sentence "stingers"?.

Accepting my own mortality, and the naturalness of death - the final step in my JW recovery.
by fresh prince of ohio infor people who have a paralyzing fear of dying, to where it seems like it's this horrible, stalking monster, jwism is a powerful sedative.. but really, the idea of living forever, in human form, is nonsense.
living forever isn't about living forever, it's about not dying.. death is natural.
it can be painful, sudden, or both.

Fresh Prince, hope your doing well.
Sorry about my taste in idioms. I'm not an expert, you can do some googling on how economys collapse, but to answer, I'd say not really. Also, Japanese culture is different than the US.
In short, what will happen is the banks close, bonds collapse, much wealth is lost, followed by hyperinflation, rendering the currency useless. This has happend in many smaller countries in the last 20 years, and it didn't result in famine, but it is bad.(Argintina) Remember though, the statis quo will be maintained at all costs. People have been betting on Japan collapsing for over 20 years, yet it goes on.
Knowing these things don't bother me, journeys come to an end, and new journeys begin. "Disturbance and rest", it is natural. I wish you well in your soul searching. It's wise to be prepared, but don't get hung up on doom, think positive and hang tough.
I live in the Southeast US, pm me if you like.

Bro, you need to have things in perspective. You local nuclear power plant presents a far greater danger, get some iodine pills and set up a plan for peace of mind. Economicly, Japan is far worse off the the US. Their debit is 24 times revenue, the US is 4.5 times debit to revenue. Japan is toast in a few years, it may take the US quite some time.
If I were you, I'd take a trip to the islands somewhere warm, and do some chillaxing, even if you are a strong thinker.

lisarose, I'm not positive, but if you post a "No Tresspassing" sign, and they enter your property, you can file charges with the police.

Fresh Prince,
I remember you from the 2100 thread. An uncertain future is not an excuse to "check out". Are you married? You can PM me if you like. But I'm not a theropist. As far as your belifs, it's good to continue your journey to recovery.
While it is true, the (econimc) system demands eternal growth, and we live on a finite planet. But this could go on for a while. Check out Dimitry Orlov. He recomends we invest in each other. As in who do you know that will help you even if you don't give them any money, and vice versa. Another example is Joel Salatin, an incredable examle of positive action, with the whole system against him.
Just some thoughts,
Be well, try to think positive and hang tough.

What will the world be like in 2100?
by slimboyfat invery interesting video from futurist james burke.

he believes scarcity will be a thing of the past because of nanofabricators (sounds like a replicator for star trek fans).

"The excitement is PALPABLE"
by Separation of Powers ingot caught at the supermarket (in between the martini olives and snack crackers ) with several bottles of hard liquor in my basket along with some red licorice by a sister that has known me for years.
still respects me, not knowing that i am in full fade mode, or at least not recognizably knowing.
anyway, when she sees me, her eyes get all big and she heads in my direction, nearly ramming my liquor laden cart with her vegan oriented basket.. "hey sop, how are you doing?

That was funny SOP, sounds like an uber.
I googled Fred Franz and got this video.

You Can't Ignore Fiscal Responsibilities!!!
by minimus inthere's just so much $$$ that people have.. the obama government continues to ignore simple mathematics, and you can't just keep adding taxes and increase fees and simply believe that everyone with a brain will think it's lovely..

Ah, but you can in a system where debit IS money. Consider Japan, they are over a quadrillian yen in debit. Even if you paid that back at 1 yen per second, it would take over 33 million years. These debits will never be repaid.
