I completely agree with you, whenever I went out with a group of JW's, the money was always short by at least one meal. And everyone claimed they'd put more money in than they owed.
However, can we really blame them? There are loads of threads on various sites pointing out how so many have been told not to go to college, or pursue higher education, and as a result have low-paying jobs. So a lot of them are probably tightwads because money is tight.
Though they should be up front and decline the invitation or maybe make other arrangements if they can't afford to go out for food.

Neanderthal and Adam and Eve
by Aussie Oz inwas actually looking into this and so did a search to see what was already talked about, found the below quote on another thread after finding it on the cd for myself...stunning to me as i still thought of neanderthal man as a hairy monkey man or a complete fabrication, and here is what appears to be a twist from the wt that i never realized all my years in.. what i found most interesting was the bolded section (by me).

cofty - I'm not ready to agree or disagree with you yet I am happy to admit that you may be right, but I'm currently at a stage in my 'belief system' where I don't actually know what the heck I believe!
My notions of God et al are all twisted up with the JW faith, so I'm trying to unpick the threads and start over with a truly open mind. Very much more difficult than I thought it would be...

Genesis 4: 14: . 14 Here you are actually driving me this day from off the surface of the ground, and from your face I shall be concealed; and I must become a wanderer and fugitive on the earth, and it is certain that anyone finding me will kill me.
This is Cain replying to God after he's killed Abel and God has banished him. It could just be me, but when I read that the other day, I instantly wondered if that meant there were people elsewhere on the earth that weren't related to Adam and Eve. As surely not that many of his brothers/sisters would have moved that distance away from the family?

Two Witnesses stuck in a elevator or car without Chaperon. Would they fornicate? Yes/No
by Witness 007 inim amazed how going witnessing sisters who knew me for decades would sit only in the back seat on the way to the hall...to avoid any sex at the traffic lights!!!
and chaperons 1840's style are needed because two witnesses alone for 10 minutes would go at it like animals even after all the training watchtower articles and talks being jahs clean org.
and all..

I do have a true and recent story along these lines:
An elder and his wife had their daughter and her husband live with them for a few weeks, whilst the young couple were waiting to move into their new house.
During this time, the elder and his daughter arranged to go and visit family for a weekend. The elder's wife was unable to go as she had recently had a major operation and couldn't move about very much.
To avoid any scandal or impression of impropriety, the son-in-law of this elder and his wife actually went to stay with his own mother, in another part of the country, whilst his wife and her father were away. Because, obviously, if he had stayed alone in the house with his much older, movement-restricted-and-in-lots-of-pain mother-in-law, people would assume that they were going to be at it like rabbits and they couldn't possibly give people that impression.
I seriously didn't know whether to laugh or be horrified at the ridiculousness of this. I think I did both!

I would, because I find every single man I meet or see extremely attractive, regardless of age, looks, personality or marital status. And they all find me irresistibly attractive too, so we just wouldn't be able to help ourselves. Even if I was married to his son, I'd still fornicate, because I have absolutely no self control whatsover and just HAVE to sleep with a guy if I'm left alone with him.
Edited for spelling!

The Faithful Slave to be appointed... WHEN?
by irondork ini was reading over mathew 24:36-45 and began dissecting it scripture by scripture.
there are several similar references like: that day and hour, what day your lord is coming, at an hour you do not think it to be, and so forth.. .
24:36 - concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the son, but only the father.. 24:42 - keep on the watch, therefore, because you do not know on what day your lord is coming.. 24:43 - but know one thing, that if the householder had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have kept awake and not allowed his house to be broken into.. 24:44 - on this account you too prove yourselves ready, because at an hour that you do not think to be it, the son of man is coming.. .

Apparently we haven't actually arrived at the date where He appoints them over all his belongings. Here is the 'New Light' as stated on their website:
'When Does Jesus Appoint the Slave “Over All His Belongings”?
Jesus said that the “master on arriving” (literally, “having come”) will appoint the slave “over all his belongings.” When does the Master, Jesus, arrive?
The expression translated “on arriving” is a form of the Greek word er′kho·mai. Verses 42 and 44 of chapter 24 translate a form of er′kho·mai as “coming.” In those verses, Jesus is referring to his coming as Judge during the great tribulation.—Matthew 24:30; 25:31, 32.
Jesus’ appointment of the “slave” over his “belongings,” then, must also be a future event. He will make that appointment during the great tribulation.'
So they haven't yet been appointed over his belongings. In fact, they didn't even know they'd been appointed over his domestics back in 1919, as it was thought CTR was the F&DS, and then later it was the remnant of the 144,000 and now it's the GB. Not quite sure an appointment can really be made without the person(s) being appointed knowing about it...?
Thank you for your insights, irondork.

Sickening Dilemma
by ItsMyLife ini would like to have your opinions on what i should do about a situation please.. i have recently discovered that a 'brother' in the congregation (which i no longer attend) is a child molester.
i've seen documentation from his psychiatrist dated a few years ago, stating that he doesn't feel that this person is likely to offend again.
the 'brother' has said to the elders at some point that he has it under control but cannot be 100% sure it won't happen again.

Thanks everyone for your replies and advice. I have told my non-JW sister about it all, as she knows a police officer quite well, and she will be asking him some questions tonight. I am trying to find out if this guy has been previously reported and if he's on the sex-offenders list. If the answers are negative, I will anonymously report him. I don't know how to find out if his fiance has been told.
I can't reply to everybody, but I'd like to thank ABibleStudent/Robert for the advice given. If I were in the USA, I would undoubtedly contact Rick Simon. Unfortunately, I'm in the UK and don't think he would be able to help me out. Thanks for the PM, I will keep his details as I may just ask if there would be any point asking the questions you suggested, if that makes sense?!
Data-Dog - If I were male, I would be much more likely to confront him. And also if I weren't such a massive wuss! I am really not good at confrontation - just discussing my gas bill with someone leaves me shaking Although he is a man of small stature and I'm not a skinny woman by any means.
I will update you all once I get the answers to my questions. And then I will do whatever I need to do next. I really need to figure out how to find out if his fiance knows. I'd like to think that no woman would agree to marry such a man, no matter what the situation was, but she may be happy with a psychiatrist saying he probably won't do it again.
Mr Flipper, I so want to use your sign-off every time I end a post, because I love it. However, I'm not a thief or a plagiarist, so I shall instead wish everyone peace within (ok, ok, that is kind of stealing it - sorry!)
Take care all of you, and may whatever you believe and trust in keep you strong xx
