Anyone Else Feeling Forced to Go to the Memorial?
by PaintedToeNail ini refuse to go to any meetings, assemblies, conventions, special talks or the like...however, i get coerced into going to the memorial every year.
because it keeps the peace at home with hubby and also makes my parents, who live elsewhere, have hope that i will come to my senses and become an active witness again.
there is no chance in hell of that happening, but it prevents the ties to my family from being severed.

I will answer with the same topic I had with my 40 year old daughter this morning. JWs hold on to their young so tight its likea rubberband the harder youu hold it the farther it flies when you let go. ANy one that had a balsa/wood airplane that you wind up with rubberband will know what I am saying. And yes in the 60's we teens did were a lot worse when wewere together than when I finally hung out with "worldy kids'

Same sex marriage legalised in the UK at midnight tonight!!!
by DuvanMuvan intitle pretty much explains it all.
lots of people are getting married at midnight tonight.. what do you guys think?
maybe if anyone gets called on by a jw this weekend you can ask them what they think about it.. im just glad because it shows that religion doesn't define our conscience, that basic human decency can prevail over time and hopefully, these types of gradual but big changes will be present in the wts too in the future .

when my son legally married his partner of 19 years it didn't change anything in his father and my marriage or his sister and her husbands marriage. His neices still plan on marrying males. 'In other words life goes on peacefully. Love to all.

Happy 40th. Its so special to be married such a long time. I looked into all my Jw friends who married around the same time and for a religion that discourages divorce very few are still married. Again congratulations and I wish you another 40 years together.

I've had 66 years to think this over. NOTHING I LOVED. I have wasted life waiting for a new system that never came. I lost confidence, education and celebrations. I was left in aworld of fears. Fear of my father dying at the big A, fear of kids at school, a fear of displeasing God. If Armageddon arrives next year I no longer have that fear. The dead knows nothing.

Since this brother Pioneered in 60s we realize he is aging. Let him know we all appreciate his courage and love for his fellow men. He can stand up straight in front of his JC Committee and never feel ashamed he has shown the GB what a true christian acts like.
