since i faded i've told a few people at work about having been raised in this organization but i found that most people don't really get what it is like at all.

they just focus on not celebrating holidays as if that is the worst thing about growing up jw.

i didn't explain much because it's too much for most people to handle.

I used to tell people I was raised in this cult as fourth generation and left when I felt that it is just a bucket of bullshit with too high a price for me and my family. Usually, they show some respect for that. But I have stopped telling people.

Since Alex states that these individuals took the costs, I doubt it was paid by Bethel. Also, no health insurance would pay for this. But I also doubt that a Bethel Elder would give such an advice without the knowledge of the higher-ups. And it was an international approach that led to the US.

He was contacted by the Elders and they send him to Poland for some form of conversion therapy to heal him from his homosexuality. It was state that it was conducted in Poland because this kind of therapy is illegal in Germany. The former Bethelite said that he met other JW from several countries in this therapy.

I have never heard about that.
