At our service meeting last week (So. California) the brother giving a part stressed the society's web address over and over again. He said to go straight to it instead of doing a search as it might land you onto an apostate site. I don't know if that just his opinion or if the elders are given some verbal instructions or guidelines ahead of time to make sure they bring certain points out. Maybe an elder can clarify.

Finnish KM 2005 on search engines and apostates
by Dogpatch inthis was passed on to me:__________i found this on finnish forum, notice: this may be true or notjune 2005 km (finnish edition), page 7: "when searching information about jehovah's witnesses from internet, we recommend going straight to organization's official sites with address www.watchtower.org, www.jw-media.org or www.jehovantodistajat.fi instead of using different search programs, which gives results consisting mainly sites administred by apostates.
" (my translation from finnish)________ lol if true we have really hurt them.
next they will sell or give away their own browsers with all apostate links blocked out!randy

After Reading CoC It Seems This Could Apply to Dub Loyalty to the Org - LOL
by adelmaal inthe below analogy made me think about how in coc whenever a new article comes out in the wt the dubs loyally obey without questioning whether or not it has any bible basis or whether or nor it is morally right (i.e.
disassociated ones to be shunned just as disfellowshipped ones, ones who personally disagree with any of the established beliefs (even if they are not outwardly promoting such disagreement) are to be considered apostates and should be disfellowshipped, etc.).
it's amazing how the org can say it's black even if it's white and blind faith causes the dubs not to question it.

That reminds me of when I told my mother-in-law about the UN thing, she said it didn't matter. Unless Jehovah physically comes down from heaven and tells her that they are not his FDS, then she will obey them no matter what. I wish I would have thought to tell her not to drink their koolaid if they offer it.

National Average = Quotas
by zack inthe national average for publishers reporting feild service time in the untited states is just under 10 hours a month.
this has become the de facto standard for every member of the congregation.
if one fails to produce at the rate of others, he is "weak", his service is "divided", he puts the things of "this life" in "first place.".

"The WTS is a huge publishing organization with slave labor who produces this literature then places it for payment or donations." I agree with Balsam, but we had one CO that took it even further. We were told that we were to "donate" for the literature when we pick it up at the counter, then if someone contributes to the world-wide work out in service, we also put that money in the contribution box. So the literature is getting paid for twice, in theory I guess, cause I never asked for a donation at the door so I pay for it.

TIME WILL TELL (Did you fake your hours in Field Service?)
by Terry ini know for certain that brothers in our congregation often lied about their time on field service reports.
(yes, we had to fill out quota reports back in the old days).
one brother, harry, would dump magazines in the storm drains!

It's that time of month again. I figure I've spent at least 4 hours on this site, does that count?

excuse my drunken behavior, actually haven't been drinking but needed an excuse. I use to live in Daytona, maybe that's my problem.

Welcome to the board, Daytona. Is your name a reference to the down? Just curious as I'm use to live there.

What is the Real Financial Cost of a Circuit Assembly?
by FairMind inmy congregation along with about thirty others attends circuit assemblies at a facility that is owned by the organization (a converted school).
this building also has a section that serves as a kh for three local congregations.
i have noticed that when the financial reports are read at the assemblies that the expense (which is not detailed) is always around $4,000.

There was another thread about how an announcement is made to send a "donation" to the society for the worldwide work. They can have enough contributions to cover the expenses but then when they agree to send thousands of dollars to the society, they then create a deficit.

The Money Is Drying Up In The Organization!
by minimus inmy mother told me that the congregation has been pretty much begging for money for the local kingdom hall.
after the presiding overseer expressed the state of debt and severe lack on contributions, he then asked the congregation to approve a resolution to send mor money to the society!!!
i don't know how they are able to function.

I remember about a year or so ago, after the circuit assembly at the assembly hall in Daytona, there was a huge announcement at the bookstudy and the subsequent meetings that the contributions were not enough and they didn't have the money to send to the society for the rent on the assembly hall. I think it was several thousand dollars short, anyway the brothers dug into their wallets and more than enough was sent to the society to cover the costs. I wonder what would have happened if they had sent a letter saying they couldn't pay the rent that month, what would Brooklyn do? Foreclose?
